One teacher probably counted the late arrival due to the bus as late and the other didn't...

The teachers are giving the kids "trouble" because the bus is late ! Perhaps they should forgo the raise that the school budget affords them. All of this should be brought to the attention of the school board for sure.

It seems to me the school administrators should be well aware of the issue and they should be dealing with the vendor about the penalties, etc. For one, I know that most parents call the school to complain when it is late, not the Board of Ed. Second, the buses are often so late that the entire bus of kids arrives after class begins. My kids have come home upset because they got in trouble with their teachers for arriving late when it was the buses fault. The school knows the buses are coming in late.

Good for you for taking a stand. I agree people need to speak up. I would encourage you to write a letter to the school so there is a formal complaint on record. That way they can use this in discussions as opposed to hear say. I am not sure this forum can help. Though it's good for people to see and Mrs. Rue I see reads this so she is aware and perhaps raise this issue to the remaining board members as she's retiring.

Are you assuming that I should have driven my kids to school instead of complaining?
Well, guess what, my neighbor's kids happen to go to Cranbury school as well, and my neighbor was nice enough to take my kids to school.
If parents don't complain, the issue will never be fixed and the bus company will take the late-arrival as ok to do.

Its funny that the bus is late and the first idea you have is to log on and type at 8:26am to complain about the bus drivers.
Do you have any idea when the class starts?

The contract should stipulate certain performance guarantees or the contract has financial penalties. I know in other districts the contracts have on time performance, safety, driver safety clauses any of which trigger financial penalties. So if the bus is not on time and the kids are late the BOE should be made aware.

I am not sure how the BOE is going to fix this problem. I just know that I pay more tax to school each year. The busing cost has been reduced and unfortunately the service is not as good (now we know why the bid was lower than the previous bus company).

My children do not take the bus, but I certainly understand your frustration. If you feel the service is unsatisfactory, I strongly recommend you - and any other parents with similar concerns - express them to the Board of Ed (or whatever appropriate body).

I agree there's not very reliable. I think we have Bus 3. Sometimes its very late. The driver always has excuses but I don't believe them because on more than one occasion I have been driving to the Tunrpike and seen the driver just gettingnear the start of the route well after they should have been half-way through it so the bottom line is she was just late.

Is this a recurring problem?
Bus 6 failed to arrive (or arrived too late before the awaiting parents gave up and drove their kids to school) at least twice before this one.
One time it was caused by mechanical failure of the bus (I heard the bus had to be towed).
There are at least four different bus drivers for bus 6 I have seen so far (the previous bus company used the same bus driver all the time).
