Post subject: A vote for Win Cody in Cranbury
Another one. Just FYI:
A vote for Win Cody in Cranbury
Thursday, October 23, 2008 4:28 PM EDT
Dan Mulligan, Cranbury
The election for the open seat on Township Committee this year is more important than ever to Cranbury. This year we have two candidates who have been involved over the years in our community: Win Cody and John Ritter.
The two candidates will have many issues which are of the utmost importance to our town facing them if elected to office.
Our COAH number for affordable housing is 269 and the projected cost to fulfill the required units is about $35 million to $40 million. These are affordable housing numbers that could lead to property taxes that would be so high that many residents would not be able to afford to live in town any longer or even worse could potentially bankrupt Cranbury and force consolidation with another municipality.
Mr. Cody has spoken against the unfair COAH rules and legislative regulations and has been endorsed by state Sen. Bill Baroni, who voted against the affordable housing legislation. When he spoke at the Cranbury Inn on Oct. 3, Sen. Baroni said he looked forward to working with Win Cody to help change the COAH rules.
In 2008-2009, Cranbury residents’ property tax bills increased by 4.35 percent. However, if we look deeper into the numbers we see the municipal tax rate increase by 7.14 percent. The Township Committee has direct effect on spending and taxes, which have continually risen over the last several years.
Mr. Cody is a fiscal conservative and businessman who, day in, day out, has to solve complex issues in the business world and he is committed to brining the same financial responsibility he uses daily in his work to Township Committee so we can put a stop to rapidly rising taxes.
We are facing many potential issues in Cranbury that can be considered as needs v. wants, issues such as open-space preservation or discussion of a new public library.
Mr. Cody says a referendum should be held to raise ope-space money, because Cranbury residents should have a voice in large financial decisions.
Win Cody is the candidate who will be an independent-thinking, fiscal conservative, who is for transparency in government and will be a voice for all of the residents of Cranbury.
That is why on Nov. 4, I will be voting for Win Cody and I am asking you to consider doing the same for the future of our town.
Dan Mulligan
Cranbury
Mr. Mulligan is campaign manager for Win Cody, Republican candidate for Cranbury Township Committee.
