The Board of Education is considering new rules regarding cell phones in schools
The Board of Education is considering a policy change that would require students to keep their cell phones in their lockers during school hours instead of in their pockets or book bags.
The policy was introduced by the board Tuesday and if approved June 20, would allow students to bring non- camera cell phones to school, but would require that they are turned off and remain in the student's locker between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Cell phones with cameras would continue to be completely banned at the school.
The current policy, which was set in place more than two years ago, allows students to carry a non-camera cell phone with them, but the phone must remain in their bag or pocket and cannot be used.
