I just saw a big truck on my neighbor's driveway to pick up donated stuff this morning. The organization is Vietnam Veterans of America.
The driver knocked the wrong door and gave me a donation info form. To schedule a pickup:

There is a thrift shop in Trenton that will take it if it's in OK shape. I forget the name of the place, however.

Did the "curb alert" thing already, no takers. Too bad because it was a nice couch. But now it's been rained on and we have no where to put it. Going to try 1800gotjunk. Thanks all.

I just paid $133 for AAA Clean UP to pick up mine. The Trenton 'dump' charges haulers by the pound. Sucks, but seems to be no other way than waiting for a clean up day.

If it's still usable post it on Craigslist as free couch - pick up only or on freecycle as a "curbalert".

There is a company created just for that.

1-800-GOT-JUNK?

I have no idea how much they charge.

Another idea is to pay the garbage company to pick up the couch. I saw my neighbor did that to his old play structure a few days ago. You just leave it near the curb and schedule a pickup (of cause, have your credit card ready when you call. Smile

We do not have a vehicle to transport the couch, and tried to donate it, but there were no pick up times available for our area.

I used to live in an apartment of Rutgers University on Davidson Rd. in Piscataway. I saw people leaving furniture, baby stuff, etc. near the dumpsters there. Some discarded items were picked up by the "poor" students living nearby.

So, if you are willing to drive the couch to Rutgers Busch campus in Piscataway, this is one idea.

Any one know where we can dispose of an old couch?
