It's not a lazy word, but the most correct and efficient one when being used to describe the act of trolling, which has a clear and specific definition.

If someone in-person claimed to be something they weren't to create fake controversy, yes I would say they are trolling to their face without hesitation. The first post above is clearly fake, posted to try and stir controversy and get a reaction. Thus trolling.
