Newly approved bus contracts still leave district in the black

Bus contracts for next year, which were approved Tuesday by the Board of Education, will cost the district about $50,000 more than the current year, but still less than what was set aside in the 2006-2007 budget.

The contracts, which cost $375,241, were awarded to Laidlaw Transportation of Hamilton, Irvin Raphael, Inc. of East Brunswick and George Dapper Inc. of Trenton.

Six Laidlaw buses, which cost $206,828 for the year, will transport students to and from Cranbury School and will bring students to Princeton High School in the morning. Five Raphael buses will run the afternoon return route from the high school and will cost the district $145,922.
