Asked by CBS News' Katie Couric in an exclusive interview whether illegal immigrants should be covered under a new health care plan, President Obama responded simply, "no." But he said there may need to be an exception to that policy for children. "First of all, I'd like to create a situation where we're dealing with illegal immigration, so that we don't have illegal immigrants," he said. "And we've got legal residents or citizens who are eligible for the plan. And I want a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a pathway to achieve that." "The one exception that I think has to be discussed is how are we treating children," he continued. "Partly because if you've got children who may be here illegally but are still in playgrounds or at schools, and potentially are passing on illnesses and communicable diseases, that aren't getting vaccinated, that I think is a situation where you may have to make an exception."
Huh? Is he saying that he wants to make the illegal immigrants legal, then cover them with the new health care bill?
Exactly the next day he will declare the US a communist state and then force us to convert to islam.

I'm starting to think its the same extremest person posting on this forum to see if they can get a rise by these outlandish postings. They are always off topic and controversial enough to get people to stop talking about the original topic. Here we go again, talking about this persons outlandish and racist statements, rather then an open discussion on the original topic. Its too bad really that this person has to do that over and over again just to get people to talk about them. I wish we could identify them quicker and just ignore the posting like in real life, I would walk away from the conversation, or turn to someone else that I would rather talk with. Walking away now.

You know I usually defend this site and the posters against critics but some of the posts above is what gives it a bad name and earns it a reputation as being a hang out for ignorant extremists conservatives. Can we keep the discourse higher than ridiculous claims about communism, etc.? And, BTW, he didn't say he wanted to make illegal immigrants legal. He said we need a better path to legal immigration. Which is obviously true.
And all this time I thought this site was for ignorant extremists progressives. LOL
Different means to the same end.

We need a better path to legal immigration. Right now, the gate is locked and we're upset that everyone is hopping the fence. Give people a reasonable process to go through the gate and then shoot the people who hop the fence.

He has said in the past he's for amnesty.
However, I do agree that we need to cover children of illegal immigrants because they are in our schools and need to protect themselves as well as protect our kids.
