Two well known conservatives speaking up on the ballfield the first time public comment was open on it and then when the contract was awarded. http://www.cranburytownship.org/TC_minutes112607.html

Mr. Jack Ziegler, 9 Prospect Street, spoke concerning his displeasure with having to wait until after the Township Committee voted on the Resolution for the award of the bid for the Babe Ruth Baseball Field to speak and not being allowed to speak before the adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Ziegler objected to the Township spending $300,000 for a baseball field without getting input from the public beforehand. Mr. Ziegler referenced the Township spending “a fortune” on remediation of the property already. Mr. Ziegler stated by the time everything is done, the cost will be $500,000.....

Mr. Arthur Hasselbach, Route 130, spoke concerning his displeasure with the Babe Ruth Baseball Field and its expense. Mr. Hasselbach mentioned he had attended the meeting on Open Space and had also read the report which stated, “at this time a Babe Ruth Baseball Field was not needed”. ....

The TC was Michael Mayes- Rep and Dems- Beauregard, Panconi, Stannard, Stave. So let's not re-write history.

The ballfield was slipped below the radar. By the time anyone here was discussing it or it became well known, it had already been authorized by the TC, even though construction hadn't begun. In fact, for many of us it was the ballfield approval that made us more vigilant and activist about wasteful spending and major projects pursued without more public input.

And as others have posted, the leading proponents of the ballfield were the Democrats on the TC, so I don't understand your premise. I would say most of the consveratives objecting to the library, if not all of them, would also agree the ballfield should not have been funded.

There was opposition to the ballfield and as the other poster stated it was the Dems on the TC that pushed it through. So even though I find it funny people trying to make watching tax dollars a negative thing, you need to look at the fact that the conservatives have been the minority members of our TC for a while now and that's one reason why our taxes are where they are today.

Pari, David, they are the forces behind the ball field and they are not conservative by any means

I wonder that as well: how did the baseball field project get approved?

Not surprising. They have a definitive plan, along with Pari, Richard and David on the TC, to put the Library at the PNC site and are simply paving the way for the pre-determined results of their study.
