Post subject: Chipping Service and Leaf Pick Up - October 2011
Chipping Service and Leaf Pick Up --- October 2011
Curbside chipping is scheduled to begin this month on the 3rd Wednesday, October 19th. Due to the House Tour event occurring this Saturday, October 15th, and to keep the streetscape beautiful, it is kindly requested that chipping be placed at the curb on Sunday, October 16th after the event.
Your efforts to adhere to the chipping protocol as established in the Township’s Code § #120 and § #69 is greatly appreciated. Please be aware that notices of violation were sent (and will continue) to offending homeowners for the non-compliance of brush/chipping and leaf pick up placed at the curb in front of your property. If you receive a bright orange notice, please review the highlighted offense. Should you not understand why the notice was sent to you or if you received it in error, please call 395-0900 x229 so we can discuss this.
Most of the notices are sent because your chipping was placed at the curb prior to the weekend before the 3rd Wednesday. Another popular reason is that the brush/chipping should be stacked parallel to the curb or near the curb with the cut (fattest) ends together allowing the DPW crew to easily insert the branches into the chipper without going into the street to turn the pile around. The placement of branch/ chipping must be directly abutting your property line, not in front of your neighbor’s property. Be assured that your neighbor does not want your brush/chipping pile in front of his/her property!
A total of three (3) warning notices will be issued to residents. The fourth (4th) notice will result in a $500. fine per day of violation depending upon the extent of and circumstance of the violation.
Curbside leaf pickup will begin October 24th. Place leaves between the curb and sidewalk or close to street for the DPW crew to vacuum. Take care not to block the storm drains. Also, do not mix the leaves with your branch/chipping. These two items require different machinery for collection. If the piles are combined, the DPW will be unable to collect either item and a violation notice may be issued.
