1.How will the tax exempt properties be billed? There are quite a few residential properties that are property tax exempt for varoious reasons [VA Disability etc.].
2. Mr. Cook stated on Oct. 11, 2010 in the presentation to the township that "Cost savings will offset future personnel costs to handle billing and processing" based on that statement there will be additional hidden costs that will come out of the general tax budget that will be paid by all taxpayers including Four Seasons and others such as COAH housing and they will not receive any benefit as there waste is presently paid for through their maintence or rent. There also may be legal fees associated for those who do not pay and there may be the necessity to establish a reserve fund to insure the ability to pay the contractor.

1) This is not a tax it is not built into the tax bill. It is a separate bill.

2) Those properties are still paying for the clean up day in their taxes. So if there are savings from clean up day and the money is used to offset hiring someone part time then they are still ahead of the game. Of course, why not ask in the bid process if the contractor will bill people directly instead of the town? Since this has not gone to bid and the referendum is only to investigate why not ask this question of the contractor? In terms of COAH, since we subsidize them as a town I don't think they really are a valid part of this discussion. The Four Seasons are valid.

This is a referendum to look and see what can be done and what the final cost would be. A second referendum is to proceed. A lot of the questions raised seem to relate more to the second referendum than to this one which is to investigate the issue.

To me it comes down to with a family I need to count every penny. I make cuts on cable, don't eat out often, take the family to the movies maybe every few months if that, and don't own a business with a dumpster. I look for every way to save and if I can save $20 a month then to me that is important. I can't validate spending $20 more a month because someone with more money then me feels they can throw away $240-$400 a year simply because they want the option to change a provider when they likely have used the same provider for years. I really wish I had the income of people where $240-$400 is no big deal it must be nice.

Mine is about that. I can tell you-

Midco, middle size container, twice a week pick up. I can't do once a week with one container. I can do once a week with two containers.

And the people quoting higher presumably have the large size containers. So its not an issue of "getting a bad deal" as a previous poster noted but just different service.

So most people are like me then, I pay a lot more than $70 a quarter which is about where the Town purchase would be. I have not found a cheaper provider. I have twice a week and the mid-size container. So I would have improved service at a lower cost.

To me that is what it is all about regardless of who does my negotiation.

and less noise most nights.

I just got my bill, I pay $662 per year, one can twice a week, so I can save $400 per year. I am voting yes to look into this. If anything, the actions of the TC to at least explore the idea have helped me as I now plan to seek a better fee, regardless of whether or not the town becomes the service provider. Well done, TC!

I suggest you call other providers yourself because your over paying.

I pay similar and there is no lower cost option available. You don't know what you're talking about.

I agree. Same here. I would like the poster who says you can do better to specifically post the company that is true of. When I quoted before there was not another company willing to do the large size can (I believe it is 90 gallons?) twice a week for a better price.

I pay 123 a quarter, one can twice a week. This will save me close to 300 bucks. Thanks TC (I mean my local GOVERNMENT)
