Tomorrow, we have a choice between A) a person who has dedicated thousands of hours to help successfully run the township for almost a decade, or B) writing in a person with no experience who has until very recently shown no interest. Are you really going to pick option B because you're upset about something completely unrelated?

The Tea Party was not exactly the "brainchild" of the Kochs' and their rich posse, but once discovered, the brothers jumped in and spent millions on promoting and funding this movement of the far right party, which is why it became such a successful and invasive group.  The donors are, generally, billionaires and are intent on securing corporate rights over human and environmental rights. SecEd Devos is one of these billionaires.  Though, surely, the Indivisible movement in its many facets has received plenty of money from the uber rich, it really is being paid for and organized at the grassroots level.   The book "Dark Money" highlights this quite well.  It's very frightening.

3.  The Resistance is made up of more than one group.  You will see on the site, www.indivisibleguide.com,  well over 6000 groups, last time I checked (a year?) that have signed on as "resistance" groups so that like-minded, local people could join together.  "Some" choose to call themselves Indivisible something, like Cranbury did.  Others called themselves SOMA Action, District 4 Coalition for Change, Rise and Resist, Rise up NC, Midterm Turn Around, Equal etc.... Some groups, like OurRevolution, Moms Demand Action, the New Jim Crow and others, existed well before Mr. Trump entered the scene. Of course, many of these groups formed with the sole purpose of creating a network of the groups everywhere so the resistance is organized by county, district, and state with all, now, in communication.  It's pretty darn impressive.

4. The Tea Party is comprised, almost exclusively, by white, males.  The Resistance movement, almost exclusively, by women, hence the organization mentioned above; the majority of whom have never been politically active before.  The mothers, and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, medical professionals,  teachers  etc. are leading the way. And they've got social media down pat, cause there's so much involvement by the young.  It's pretty impressive.

5. The TP's original major focus, as I understand it,  was on reduction of debt, taxes, and spending but, with the addition of all that billionaire money, came to include a focused effort towards disengaging all gov't regulation that got in the way of corporate profit.  Scott Pruitt, the corporate tax giveaway, and the reduction in human rights are examples of their success in power.  The original TP members, fighting for the reductions noted above, have been played.

The "Resistance Movement" is comprised of  those who are rising up against this current administration in support of HUMAN rights, across the board. Environmental rights are equally important to this group.

6. Unfortunately, Cranbury can not remain unfazed during this tumultuous national time. The MeToo movement, the increase in deaths of black youth, the reality of the school to prison pipeline, the endless school shootings, the concerns about healthcare and college and employment are here too.  And don't forget about Mother Earth.  Leaving clean air and water to our children is a great concern we all must surely share.

7. Change is inevitable; of course, it's never easy. (an aside: Mayor Glenn Johnson might want to consider an apology for his last council meeting address. His attempt at humor belies his lack of understanding, I believe, but many see it as an outright, intentionally misogynistic slant. The women are not happy about this.)

8. If you think these progressive groups are TOO left, perhaps you are correct.  However, many see that things are being controlled nationally by the FAR TOO RIGHT and it is a natural response.  Check out Newton's Third Law, re equal and opposite reactions. If more moderate/conservative dems and moderate repubs joined in, spoke up against the atrocities of this administration, declared and worked towards equal rights for all,  and sought to restore balance things might be different.

I love this town, but, like everywhere, we, too, must change and grow.
