Here or somewhere else, it would be helpful if the library people were more transparent about their plans. One of the reasons they get so much guff is because they have not been forthcoming with the community.

I seriously doubt this board makes any money. And if it has resisted calls to make it less anonymous and libelous in the past, there's no chance that's going to change now. I also doubt there's a plural of "admins." I suspect is one person's little side hobby. The site hasn't been updated in at least a dozen years and doesn't get any traffic, so it's pretty much running on auto-pilot at no cost. There have been a few short spurts of time when the admin has selectively deleted a few posts, not following any consistent standard of moderation, but it's been a while.
Years ago there was at least the pretense of this site being a place where locals could post questions or promote local events, etc., but no one ever bothered answering the "boring" posts that required being helpful, so all that is left is this pathetic back-and-forth bashing by small minded, petty people on every side. This site feeds on the worst parts of human nature, the same way social media does, and for the same reason that QAnon exists.

Now, you're just being a snot. There's at least a dozen people who know the library's plans in the event the state doesn't come through with the money and some of them post here. It would be nice if the library folks would be forthcoming about their plans.

The Library Board is in the process of securing a trailer to be placed on Park Place West.
The trailer will serve as a temporary home until our new library building is built.
We hope to sign the trailer lease on September 1.
Then it will be another 2 - 3 weeks for delivery and installation of the trailer.
What is the plan if a new Library building is not built?
Why don't you ask Jay?
Why would anyone ask Jay about the Library? Isn't Matt the TC liaison to the library?

Since the 60.00 was created 10 plus years ago PSEG has had a few rate increases, American water has increased rates and so has my trash collection. So this number isn't factual any longer and keeps being used.
So it is 60.00 plus the increases plus the regular operational increases and then the average home is $650K. If you have a home over that amount you are paying more than the average homeowner.

Don't follow your reason. If we have 700 donations, and that usually represents a household of several people and so several voters = 1400. These are votes in favor of the library plus a significant percentage of the town who are upset that the project has been delayed and that the town should have paid for this from the start. Why go to a referendum?
*Why not have a referendum for the lake project? One could argue that this will be more expensive for a cosmetic fix...
*The Library at least has financial backers that show just how important this project to our town.
Using the library’s number of $60/yr,
by your logic someone who politely donated $100 to their friends’ pet library project “voted” to be taxed an extra $1200
($60/yr x 20 years)?
Do you see now how wrong that assumption is?
Put it on the ballot and let the people decide if it’s worth the money.
I pay 3x the average tax rate in town. So I guess that means $3,600 for me. And with the new federal tax laws, none of that is deductible.

Even if it is an extra 60.00 which has never been shown credible, it sits on top of the other expenses that we are incurring this year.
What happens when the township adds more officers as we’re hearing rumors of in town, changes the code to repair all sidewalks in town which will be millions, and starts to fund the initiatives from the new Economic Development Committee? These are things just done or discussed in the last 6 months. That excludes the bonding for the lake which in my view was needed.
The town went years without adding new costs and pet projects. That is why our taxes are so low. The TC this year was a race horse at the gate chomping at the bit to start spending similar to the early 2000 TC’s where spending shot up by millions and we had 3, 4 and 6 cent tax increases to pay for it. The resident taxes will be going up over the next few years to pay for these items and each item the Mayor and TC add has ongoing costs.
God help us if we start losing road grants, state aid is cut or worse we end up needing to fund a paid fire company. Any one of those things could severely impact our taxes. But like most TC members when the kids are all done with school they will leave the town. Wayne, Dan and Glenn are the only current residents who sat TC from the past 30 years all others have left.

And the math and information was never explained. Since 2010 the library has said it will be an extra 60.00 when they wanted the PNC building for 1 million.

The $60.00 per average household was submitted at a township meeting last year by a former township committeeman, and economist. We need to remember that the warehouses help keep our taxes low and carry a lot of weight.

Even if the township were to bond for the rest of the money needed for the new library, it would cost the average homeowner about $60.00 a year.
Why don't we put the lake project on the ballot in November if the library must go to referendum, in your opinion? Yes, the lake is nice. Libraries are important, too, and a strong majority of the residents voted for the NJ Library Construction Bond Act. Both projects are for the good of Cranbury and many like both.
Typical deflection argument, but I'll play. Happy to put both on the ballot then. Seems, fair, right? So will support the library question on the ballot?
