CRANBURY — Candidates running for school board this year have found different ways to prepare for the April 15 election.
Newcomer candidates Jennifer Cooke, Evelyn Spann and Kevin Fox are seeking three three-year seats on the board. They are running unopposed.
Mr. Fox could not be reached before The Cranbury Press’ Thursday afternoon deadline.
The three current board members, Elizabeth Silverman, Frank Ransegnola and Kenneth Griffin are not seeking re-election.
Ms. Cooke, a three-year resident of the township with two of her three children attending Cranbury School, said she has spent the past weeks studying the minutes of school board meetings and learning the rules and regulations of the board in order to educate herself.
She said she’s running because education is an important issue to her.
”I believe in public education,” she said. “I just really want to give back to the community in some way.”
Ms. Cooke’s personal interests include nutrition and health and wellness.
She said she would like to see what opportunities are available on the board’s various committees before trying to commit herself to anything.
