A new place for seniors Cranbury senior citizens have a new place they can call their own. By Megan DeMarco, Special Writer Posted: Friday, September 21, 2007 2:20 PM EDT The Cranbury Human Services Board cut the ribbon on the new Cranbury Senior Center on Saturday, marking its official opening in the old recital room in Town Hall. ”Towns all over New Jersey wish they had the sense of community that Cranbury has today,” said U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, whose district includes Cranbury. “The Senior Center will be a community center, and that is the thing that will make Cranbury the place that other towns envy.” Approximately 80 people attended the opening, which included guest speakers, refreshments and a musical presentation, “Broadway comes to Cranbury.” The center is located in the former old recital room in the Town Hall building on North Main Street. It has a television, books, videos, tables and games, as well as four card-sized tables, two armchairs, a loveseat and a piano. ”We thought it was a big success,” said Rosemary Seghatoleslami, chairwoman of the Cranbury Human Services Board. “We were very pleased with the turnout and we hope that people continue to use the room.” Middlesex County Freeholders David Crabiel and Blanquita Valenti also were on hand. ”I like occasions like this one because it gives me the chance to say Middlesex County is the greatest county in the land,” Mr. Crabiel said. “And that includes Cranbury.” ... http://www.packetonline.com/articles/2007/09/21/cranbury_press/news/doc46f3f7b85ed51054183961.prt |
