I really like the two candidates' willingness to communicate with the residents. The current administration is really not very resident friendly in terms of communication.

Thank you for the comments. I hope the bios posted above give everyone an indication of our backgrounds and skill sets that we would offer to the position. Dan and I are looking forward to meeting with residents during the year and discussing your concerns and issues. Dan and I have both been active reading and posting to the forum in the past and are thankful for the quality of posts we see and read. We'll continue to post as issues arise throughout the year.

Cranbury is fortunate to have smart, civic-minded individuals, like Jay and Dan, who are ready, willing and able to volunteer for the time-consuming, thankless job of Township Committee. Dan and Jay to have strong opinions, creative ideas and a willingness to take action. I appreciate their willingness to serve the community and wish them well.

Please find below Dan Mulligan's bio as promised. As you will note we have two very promising candidates who are well versed in finance, governance and compliance procedures.

Daniel (Dan) Mulligan married a life long Cranbury resident and moved back to our community several years ago in order to raise their two young children with small town values.

If elected, Mr. Mulligan will bring his years of business, finance and technical experience as well as his passion to be informed with the issues Cranbury faces such as COAH/affordable housing, open space/land preservation, municipal/school consolidation and the other issues and challenges which are paramount to our town during these uncertain economic times.

Mr. Mulligan is active in the Cranbury community. For the last several years he has been a coach in the Cranbury Plainsboro Little league. He is also active with his young son in scouting. Specific to his desire for helping the town he served this past year as the campaign manager for Win Cody who was elected to the Township Committee last November.

Dan is currently employed by Ernst & Young with a focus on Messaging and Collaboration within the firms Global Operational Services group and has held similar positions with such organizations as The National Basketball Association, Commerce Bank (now TD Bank) and Lowenstein Sandler Attorneys at Law.

Throughout his professional life he has been seen as an analytical thinker that consistently resolves both new and ongoing issues or defects and has often been called upon to resolve complex business and technical problems that have been escalated by others. He brings Solid management skills, demonstrated proficiency in leading and mentoring individuals to maximize levels of productivity while forming cohesive team environments. Dan has held various technical certifications in systems administration, application development and as a certified instructor from IBM.

Due to his overall background he feels he is uniquely qualified to separate politics from doing what is right for Cranbury through a common sense approach.

We will post Dan's bio here shortly. Here is Jay's bio for those who do not know him.

James (Jay) M. Taylor age 34, is a second generation resident of Cranbury; however, his family roots in Cranbury date back to the early 1700’s. Mr. Taylor was raised in Cranbury where he attended the Cranbury Elementary School and Princeton High School. During his school years he worked at the Cranbury Public Library, Cranbury’s Summer Recreation Camp and Cranbury Paint and Hardware. He moved away from town in late 1999 and returned with his wife Kristen in 2007 to a home on South Main Street. They are expecting their first child in March.

Mr. Taylor’s decision to run for a Township Committee seat continues his family’s long tradition of giving back to the town. His father was on the School Board and Township Committee and his grandfather was on the School Board and Zoning Board. It is because of their experiences that he understands the value and importance of seeking input from both residents and former board and committee members.

Mr. Taylor’s professional experience is an asset as a Township Committeeman with his strong financial background, experienced negotiation skills, and an ability to understand/communicate intricate issues. Mr. Taylor is employed as a vice president with the Aon Corporation (Fortune 500) where he has worked in the Global Benefits Practice since 2000. Based in Somerset, N.J. Mr. Taylor advises companies of all sizes on global benefits policies and processes. His experience is diverse with expertise in the development of global benefit governance procedures; local employee benefit plan management, finance and design; vendor and union negotiations; multinational pooling; expatriate/third country national plan development, implementation and management; and policy and plan development for high risk employee assignments.

In particular, Mr. Taylor is an experienced mergers and acquisitions consultant advising businesses and private equity firms on the financial, transactional and human capital issues in acquisitions, integrations, restructurings, and other major change initiatives.

Mr. Taylor is a member of the following organizations:
 Member of the Board of Trustees for the Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society
 Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury
 Member of the Young Professionals Group at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, N.J.
 National Foreign Trade Council
 New England Human Resource Association

Mr. Taylor graduated with a B.A. degree in English from the University of Delaware with a minor in history.

Side note- On this board he has posted as James and more recently Jay T.

Phylissanne, can you highlight their resume so readers here have better idea about them?

Great.

Can someone elaborate on their backgrounds. Since Dan is the Cranbury Conservative his views are pretty well known here, though perhaps not his business background. And the brief paragraph on Mr. taylor makes reference to his negotiation skills but doesn't discuss his professional background.

Appreciate it.

As Chair of the Cranbury Republican Committee I am excited to endorse Dan Mulligan and Jay Taylor for Township Committee. Both men are qualified, articulate and passionate about representing the community. Their resumes display that they have the tools to govern effectively and efficiently.

Dan married a life long Cranbury resident. Through his wife and her family, along with his time living in the community, Dan has learned the history and depth of Cranbury's pride. He will bring his years of finance and technical experience as well as his passion to be informed with the issues Cranbury faces such as COAH, open space/land preservation, municipal consolidation, and school consolidation.

Jay is a second generation resident of Cranbury, though his family ties date back to early 1700's. He believes that we should consider the town's history and the decisions past boards have made when looking to the town's future. He wants to return to old fashion values, sound financial principles and a common sense approach to government. His negotiation skills and business experience can give residents confidence that their needs are being met, especially financially.
