When I told our former mayor (who moved away last year), she was very surprised to hear that our taxes went up by a lot. It was not supposed to happen. But it did.

How can there be not a cap on increases? If someone's taxes got from, let's say 11k to 19k, shouldn't there be a limit? Or another way to get to the 19k? Incremental increases over 3 years or something like that.

And what is going to happen with the increased income from the taxes? Free standing library?

overall, i guess the average increase will be 15% to 25%. it is kind of too much for one year.

The irony is that the re-valuation occurred near the top of the housing market. I am not sure I could sell my house at the re-assessed value. Rolling Eyes
