At least in Cranbury anyway.

May be wrong, but thought I saw in the ordinance a requirement for a cat census...

The TC is the only one who can authorize such a census and they have said they will not. Since dog census is state mandated and the cat is not, I hope they will remain true to their word.

From a received email:
Cranbury Township will be conducting the 2009 dog census, beginning mid-July and through to mid-August. This is a requirement of the State and Cranbury Township Ordinance #162-9.
