The county recently announced a $450,000 contribution from the Middlesex County Open Space Trust Fund toward the nearly $900,000 purchase price. <br /> <br />While the township of 2,000 residents has already used public funds to preserve more than 2,000 acres of land as open space, officials are still looking to acquire the remaining 41 acres of the Reinhardt property. <br /> <br />“It preserves the agricultural heritage of our community,” said township committeeman Dan Mulligan. “Most of the land preserved is still being worked as farmland growing corn, soy beans and spinach.
