Absentee ballots swing race to Cranbury incumbent
Democrats sweep Township Committee seats
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 9:25 PM EST
By Maria Prato-Gaines, Staff Writer
Thirty-four votes separate the three candidates for Township Committee, with the incumbents retaining their seats.
Mayor David Stout, a Democrat, was the top vote-getter with 602, gaining his second three-year term. Democrat Richard Stannard finished with 576 votes and Arthur Hasselbach, the lone Republican on the ballot, received 568 votes.
Mr. Hasselbach, who served on the Township Committee several years ago, had a five-vote lead before absentee ballots were counted. Mr. Hasselbach was outpolled in absentee ballots 28-15. There were two seats on the ballot this year.
