With Super Tuesday looming, voters from Cranbury, Jamesburg and Monroe are split on whom they plan to support in the earliest presidential primary in state history.

There will be 127 Democratic delegates distributed based on Tuesday’s votes, with voters backing delegate slates along with candidates. The Republican primary is winner-take-all, with the victor claiming the state’s 52 GOP delegates. New Jersey moved its primary to Feb. 5 in this election cycle, after holding it in June in years past. A general primary for all other offices, including U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, will be held June 3.

A Quinnipiac poll conducted in New Jersey from Jan. 15 through 22 showed Sen. Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic race with 49 percent, followed by Sen. Barack Obama with 32 percent and former Sen. John Edwards, who dropped out of the race on Wednesday, with 10 percent.

The poll showed Sen. John McCain leading the Republican field with 29 percent, followed by former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani with 26 percent, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 11 percent and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 10 percent. Mayor Guiliani also dropped out of the race on Wednesday.
