McCain received 245 votes in Cranbury, 1,762 votes in Monroe and 102 votes in Jamesburg. The Arizona senator led Middlesex County with 17,172 votes, and received 309,842 total votes in the state giving him all 52 Republican delegates. The GOP primary was a winner-take-all contest. His closet challenger was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who dropped out of the race on Thursday, with 93 votes in Cranbury, 822 votes in Monroe and 74 votes in Jamesburg. He received 8,303 votes in the county and 158,692 in the state. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee garnered 36 votes in Cranbury, 187 votes in Monroe and 23 votes in Jamesburg. He received 2,703 votes in the county and 45,699 votes statewide, while U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, of Texas, received 17 votes in Cranbury, 112 votes in Monroe and 16 votes in Jamesburg. He received 1,709 votes in the county and 26,913 votes in the state. Among Democratic voters interviewed by The Cranbury Press at the polls who said they voted for Sen.
