Cranbury kindergartners get an early welcome in preparation for the first day of school.
Even though it was the day before the official beginning of the school year, Cranbury School's kindergarten classrooms were filled with teachers, students, parents and siblings on Tuesday.
The open house, held from 2 to 3 p.m., is the school's way of helping the 58 incoming kindergartners ease into their new learning environment.
"Kids can come in and the whole classroom is open to them," said teacher Barbara Adams. "They can explore and see what's there so that when they start school it's not so fearful."
As a bonus, the open house also helps to invoke a sense of excitement in the students.
"They're all looking forward to coming to school tomorrow," teacher Pam Szabo said.
Not all students enter their future classrooms with enthusiasm, though.
