That's why I asked my question about where the crime was occurring. It is possible the statistics are skewed by reports from the industrial / commercial zone and not the residential area. If so, assigning the crime to Cranbury is a technicality but not reflective of the residential area. Too soon to draw any conclusions until we know where the incidents occurred.

The annual report lists the number of crimes reported to the New Jersey Uniform Crime Reporting System by every municipality in the state. The report also breaks crimes into violent and nonviolent crimes. Violent crimes are murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Nonviolent crimes are described as burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft. The statistics compiled are for 2006. According to the report, all three municipalities experienced a slight increase in overall crime rate. The report also showed that Monroe had the second lowest overall crime rate in the county at 8.8 crimes per 1,000 people, and was tied with Plainsboro Township and Spotswood Borough for the lowest violent crime rate at .6 crimes per 1,000 people.
