Publius- it seems we've found common ground. Consideration for hard working, taxpaying moderates would be a refreshing change in politics.

Too bad that it'll NEVER happen!!!!!!
It's just the nature of politics.
Decent people hardly ever run for office.

I dunno.
I saw it somewhere up above the fold and I think it's one of THE most overused words in the language today.
I'm sick of all the petty bickering from the extremes on both sides............but mostly from the right-wing. Maybe, it's because they lost power and all they can do is stomp their little feet and hold their breath and I find THAT quite amusing.

Jefferson was right-a little revolution once in a while is a good thing.

Publius,
As journalists, I'm sure the folks at the Cranbury Press are capable of accepting some constructive criticism. However, if I were to start a new media venture for the purpose of empowering people to share their variety of views on Cranbury issues big and small, I would launch a website called Cranbury.info. Since someone was nice enough to do that already, I guess I'll stick to my day job.

One question for you publius- what prompted you to use the term "liberal" bias? My post simply encourages the CP to advocate on behalf of taxpayers.

I agree with Win. However, IMO, the opinion pieces published by the Cranbury Press contribute to the perception of bias and fuels their critics. I hope they find some space to offer a wider variety of opinions. In particular, I wish they would have someone represent the tax-payers as opposed to always taking the side of the tax-spenders.

Dammit!

I had you matched with Castro and Pelosi in my "parents of uber-liberal bastard's pool". I had Steinem and Hoffman as Corzine's parents.

Just one more comment. If people stop subscribing sooner or later a business decision will be made that it's unprofitable and the Press will go away. We already have a smaller paper and staff than a few years ago.

The Press is really our source for detailed news and information. The town has two other official newspapers the Trenton Times who told me that we're too small for them to cover and the Home News who said we're not in their coverage area. If the Press ceases we will be hard pressed to get information other than what we hear over back yard fences or through conversations around town.

John and Maria informed us of their view when we issued the release and while disappointed, I do agree with the decision based on their reasoning. At the same time, they have published our letters to the editor. They both have worked hard to be fair all around. I for one hope to see that fairness continue and for the paper to regain its strength.

I absolutely agree! It should be fair to all candidates.

I have not found the Cranbury Press to be overly biased and have enjoyed many of their articles. While it would have been nice to do a feature story when Jay Taylor and Dan Mulligan announced their candidacy, I can understand the paper's rationale for not doing it. I do not consider the quick online announcement (or Twitter) of the write-ins an issue, it was worthy of noting. They did not do an exclusive feature article on the Democrats. I look forward to seeing articles regarding both parties' candidates during the election season.

I just want to make one correction and make sure that everyone knows that John Saccenti is the editor of the Press and that I have a different position with The Princeton Packet.

As for the correction, I am not related in any way to Ariana Huffington or George Soros -- they aren't old enough to be my parents. I am, in fact, the illegitimate child of Gloria Steinem and Abbie Hoffman. Please, get your facts straight.
