I talked to a Verizon service guy a year or so ago - apparently Cranbury already has fiber up on the poles in most of the town, but they are not offering service yet.

Thanks for the quick reply. Who knows, maybe google fiber will get here before FIOS ever comes to town.

Do all the towns around us have FIOS?

Still no time in the scheduled, foreseeable future.

And Comcast is still over $80/month for just internet. Sure you can get short term bundle deals but their long term internet rate is still over 50% above the national average.

I know two people fairly senior at Verizon corporate in NYC who looked into it for me and told me "no time soon," not even on the long term schedule.

That information was a year ago so things could have changed, but not sure why it would have.

Comcast is ridiculously bad. I had my IT group put equipment on the network to monitor performance and it is all over the board, frequently a fraction of the supposedly "guaranteed" minimum, and frequently losing connectivity for brief periods entirely -- not "outages" but loss of ping for up to 30 seconds at a time that messes up anything that requires a persistent connection. I have done speed tests that compare results with aggregate national results and rate my Comcast signal an “F” lower than 92% of all results in the country. And for this, if you don’t get forced into their “bundle,” I pay almost $80/month when the national average is $40.

Ask them to come and check your signal; they will put in a thicker, better line for you if the signal strength is low. They had replaced my line three times: two to replace accidental line-cut and one to replace the old line.

I pay about $43/month for the most basic TV service and 4Mbps Internet. I am in Shadow Oaks; my line is over 100 feet long, which can degrade signal strength.

Does anyone know when Cranbury will be able to take advantage of the Verizon Fios services? Right now it seems we are only able to get the Comcast services.
