Yes that bank has gone downhill in the last two years.

Notwithstanding some of the fairly inane remarks made, this strand SHOULD be read by the bank, just so they can see how many people are dissatisfied with the level of customer service, especially in the Village Branch.
The fact of the matter is that 1st Constitution was founded 20+ years ago to bring "home town banking", including good customer service, back to Cranbury to combat the "big bank policies" of MidLantic Bank (the precursor to the old PNC space).
And it was a "Home Town Bank" for a while, until (using an oversimplified explanation) the original President and some of the original Board Members were gone, and the "new" Board hired a new President - a former executive from none other than MidLantic Bank, and, starting with fees, the bank slowly lost it's home town feel, and now we have a little bank, trying to become a big bank, and generally not caring about customer service - especially in the Village Branch.
Although this cannot be viewed as 'supportive' of !st Constitution Bank, it certainly isn't 'bashing'. It is a simple declarative statement, which most depositors - and especially long-time depositors - know to be true: Customer Service is no longer a priority at the Village Branch. And, it's a sad commentary because pretty much everyone in Cranbury is here for the "small town/hometown" ambiance.
On a final note, did these people ever get their $100 back?

Remember, it's not "bashing" it's just "speaking your mind," as the basher likes to note...

On January 20th, 2011, I went to the 1st Constitution Village office to make a withdrawal. I asked for large bills, thinking it would be simpler for the teller. The teller counted the money, put it in the usual envelope and I took it home and put it in my safe for emergency purposes. On March 17th, I brought some of that original cash back to the bank to be deposited. The teller looked at my money, told me it was counterfeit, confiscated $100 from me and reported me to the Secret Service. The bank manager told me that I should have checked the money to make sure it was good before I took it out of the bank in January. I immediately went home, retrieved the rest of the cash 1st Constitution had originally given me, brought it back to the bank and asked them to verify that it was not counterfeit. Luckily for me, it was only one bill. The bank also told me that counterfeiters are getting better at what they do everyday and it is hard for even them to tell. So, no matter what, I lose, not the bank. On March 18th, I returned to the bank and closed my account. I demanded that they prove to me that every bill they were going to give me was legal tender. The assistant bank manager didn't want to do that and offered me a cashier's check. That WAS smart. Then I didn't have to touch any of their dirty money at all. After that, I went directly to the police station to file a report. If I were you, I wouldn't trust their money. If you have any money in the bank, withdrawal it as soon as you can. My family has been a part of this community for 90 years. I can't believe I have been treated this way. Next step, BBB. Sad

Thanks for sharing your story. I had no idea that this is happening, even right here in our little town. Consumer beware

1st constitution bank is is the last bank I would ever want to do business with. They have products from the 90's or maybe even 80's and don't know the first thing about real banking. Their foundation is comical as well as most of their employees who would never cut it in a real bank. They are not a community bank, they are a bank that aims for crooked business owners that can't open accounts anywhere else just so they can make a buck to keep them afloat. Big banks can give you the community feel if you try and believe it or not big banks will keep the same staff a lot longer then this Mickey mouse company.

Boy this post is so yesterday. Don't you realize we have moved on to bashing the new bagel place.

And even the bashing of the new bagel place is hanging by a thread until someone else picks another local business to bash. Too funny Laughing

I don't think this is bashing a local business at all. Its known to many that 1st Constitution Bank's customer service is terrible. It should be publicized that they are careless with money and alert our community to keep an eye on them. Do you think is "nonsense" to loose $100 of your hard earned money ?

Sounds like this guy should move to Cranbury, he would fit right in.

Actually it sounds more like you object to everyone having their say and standing up for themselves - except for you.

I love Cranbury
