It all depends on a lot of factors, temps before cold spell, sunlight , snow cover, and probably a few I missed. There used to be night skating as well but during the dam construction the old lights were taken down and not replaced.

It is just too warm around here for it to freeze. As for Brainerd lake, it freezes about once every three years, and the ice lasts only for a few days beforewe get rain or snow or it warms back up and melts.i'm sure if we get a good freeze they will open it up for skating.
