Please be certain that we have reviewed the reports and narratives, members of our Board of Health and of our Township Committee have toured the facility (unannounced) and we have begun discussions with alternative facilities. We have also met with concerned Cranbury residents who are dedicated to the proper welfare of animals. Our contract with Helmetta will expire at the end of this year and we are certainly examining our options.
I trapped 2 feral cats and took them to the vet and payed for them to get spayed out of my own pocket. Since it was my problem with the cats I did something about it and not just sit back and complain about the situation and expect someone else to trap, transport to vet and pay for it. I really don't think it should have been put on all the taxpayer to foot the bill for me to allow the cats to be free and stay around my house for my enjoyment. It was my choice to spend the time and money for personal enjoyment instead of my taxes going up for having the town do this and not have a choice about tax increases.

Just following Facebook. The director of the shelter has kicked out the vet, all vet techs and volunteers from the shelter. Locked it up and drove away. They had a Helmetta police officer goto the shelter and make everyone leave. The NJ SPCA was there today and the outcome was that all animals have to be vetted within 24 hours. Now, the administration of Helmetta has left these animals alone with no food or water. Mayor Goetz, I hope you're following the latest developments. TY

Three towns have now pulled out of their contract with Helmetta Animal Shelter. Cranbury should do the same. If your animal gets loose and ends up there, they will be subject to horrific conditions. Hopefully, the town council is reading.
