Yes................I kinda like to stir the pot a bit once in a while.
I wouldn't want the denizens of Cranbury to get TOO ossified!

It is entirely unnecessary and makes the poster look immature and childish.

While I agree mean spirited personal attacks in principle should not be allowed, I don't see that as the case in the posts on this thread. Dan has blogged strong opinions....

I disagree, at lest DAN has strong opinions and puts his name behind his ideas, you Sir are a TROLL. This is my 2nd post on this thread, 1st was about forum etiquette and you can read more about why forum rules consider you a TROLL and why typically the moderator would ban you from future posting on almost any moderated forums. I thank the moderator on Cranbury Forum for also banning anyone that exhibits bad manners and etiquette.

Trolls are always in flagrant violation of forum etiquette and enjoy disturbing the peace at any forum where they post. Trolls tend to scroll. Posting the same thing over and over again is called scrolling, and is also a banning offense. It is annoying in the extreme and uses up bandwidth, which someone is paying for. It is entirely unnecessary and makes the poster look immature and childish. Trolls also call names, gossip about other posters, post things that are deliberately provocative and usually that violate the forum's rules about posting. Most moderators hasten to get them banned as soon as possible, but they can sometimes do a lot of damage before this happens.
To be clearer, I am calling the GUEST poster who made the "Tea bag" comment a TROLL, no one else. Its just soo hard to be specific when everyone is a GUEST poster (inc myself I know)

I am the one who posted, "what does this have to do with Cranbury?"

While I agree mean spirited personal attacks in principle should not be allowed, I don't see that as the case in the posts on this thread. Dan has blogged strong opinions. Others find these opinions extreme and have called him on it. I don't believe these rise to personal viscious attacks. I think blocking these particular types of posts will while well meaning result in blocking those that tend to disagree with your personal political persuasion. This is the slippery slope.

I say this in the firm believe that nothing on this thread has much to do with Cranbury and would be better posted on non-Cranbury message boards that deal with this sort of thing. That is why my second post was to, "take it outside".

Folks,

Please refrain from personal attacks. We will block future access to this site if postings from the same Internet address (i.e., IP address) show a pattern of personal attacks.

If you see inappropriate postings, please email us at cranbury@mail.com. (Access to this website will be blocked without warning for repeat offenders.)

I agree with John that the anonymous personal and often viscious attacks on this site have frequently gone too far. Every member of, and candidate for, the TC has been anonymously personally attacked on this site. Its a funny way to say "thanks for volunteering".

However, despite the fact that I have personally been attacked repeatedley by "Gutless Guest" posters, I think it is to the credit of site operators that they have left it to us to police ourselves. So far, we have frequently failed. Hopefully the frequent readers and posters of this site will start to "check" the APE posts (Anonymous Personal and Extreme posts).

FYI- this is my first post on this thread.

Democracy is not pretty

I read this board everyday and I never post here. However lately I am disgusted by the negativity we are seeing here. For some reason one individual from our town has a major gripe against anyone or anything which does not align with their narrow political view of the world. These views of the world do not matter in Cranbury. Who cares if we had a tax day tea party in Cranbury? It was a good time with a good turnout of folks from town who I would not say are extremists. I say that because I was at the event and I have voted for democratic presidents during the last four presidential elections including President Obama. Heck I even voted for Governor Corzine the first time he ran. This makes me an independent voter who now has distaste about living in Cranbury as well now that I know we are associated with individuals such as you who will anonymously attack other people in town on this board. Perhaps if you used your name and stood by your comments we could begin to consider taking you seriously. Until then you are part of the problem and your remarks have no value here. I also hope Dan runs again for town council despite these attacks on him personally.

Who's the wacko that has a grudge against Dan, this is not the place for your childish comments. If the SYSOP would require pseudonyms or ban his IP for posters that break the Forum Etiquette rules.

Here's a sample of some rules that would be good to make sticky at top of Cranbury Forum
