There hasn't been a Governor, of either party, or representative of Cranbury's district in 15 years at least who hasn't publicly supported efforts to force it to merge townships or school districts.[/quote]

The police are critical to the town. SB and Monroe have policing issues. So if we merge then our policing and traffic measures would all disappear. The money would be spent on those towns. <br /> <br />Public works is the same. Jerry our head is always driving through town looking at things. You put that with another town and we have nothing. <br /> <br />We already share the court, dispatch and PW equipment with other towns. That is about the extent we want. If you look at the budgets of other towns you see the bigger the town the more costly the operations. Every single justification for this plan are a straight-up lies. <br /> <br />They claim it will save money. Yet the larger districts often spend more per student than ours, so there's no evidence this is true. All it leads to is more administration, more busing, etc. <br /> <br />They claim it will improve the quality of education. This was is laughable. Compare our stats to the larger districts around us. <br /> <br />They claim it will force more shared serves. Yet Cranbury has been successfully doing shared services for decades. <br /> <br />They claim it will reduce property taxes. But any of our immediate neighbors have less efficient property taxes than we do, so all it would do is force us to subsidize them. <br /> <br />So the real plan is to force communities like Cranbury to pay for their neighbors and settle for worse schools.
