Meaning not with a gun in order to clarify any type of difference between the specific reasons behind the shooting. Driving a car at someone isn’t considered armed in this scenario.

Why is the word unarmed in quotation marks?

Actually if you look into the use of force statistics for 2019 the idea behind rampant police brutality in the US falls apart.
In 2019 there were 1004 fatal police involved shootings.
236 black and 371 white. Of the total shootings only 41 involved “unarmed” people. 20 were white and 10 were black. Of those “unarmed” black offenders. Several charged the officers or hit the officers with a car while attempting to flee. Also, of those 10 shootings 2 officers were subsequently charged.
10 “unarmed”, 2 officers charged out of 1004 shootings
In regards to the argument that police disproportionately target black people. In 2019 black people represented roughly 13% of the national population but were responsible for roughly 50% of all violent crime.
-See Washington Post 2019 use of force report for validation.-
With that being said, What happen to Mr. Floyd was disgusting and those officers need to be punished. Something like that should never happen again. However to paint the entirety of police into this same mold is not only inaccurate but irresponsible.
Respectfully

Poverty is an important factor in police shootings. The type of person most likely to be killed by the police is a poor person. Per capita Native Americans have the highest incidence of police killings and Asian Americans have the lowest. Native Americans have the highest poverty rate and Asian Americans have the lowest. African Americans have twice the average poverty rate and are roughly twice as likely to be killed by police. That’s not to say that there isn’t racism, just not as much as the data suggests without adjusting for poverty.

There are trolls on here and I would like to set a few things straight:
1. People are protesting police abuse and killings of unarmed African Americans.
2. Stop trying to change the narrative. When you do you are doing it to cause conflict. Sadly since most of you are Anonymous you don’t have to bare the shame of the devisive things you say.
3. No one is blaming the Cranbury Police and would hope that they would be in solidarity with people protesting. I like the Cranbury PD and even chat with them around town from time to time.
4. Seriously, people are angry and grieving right now, show some compassion and some class. If you can’t, be polite and keep your comments to yourself.
I’m not an organizer; I’m just a resident of this town and it’s sad to see a town message board where people have nothing better to do than gripe about the condition of someone’s sidewalk or if their grass is a little too long. I count myself lucky that I’m fortunate to live in such a nice town. Sadly for a town with so many churches it seems like there is a lack of love, empathy and compassion that are the cornerstone of Christianity. Currently there are people being abused by the same people they are protesting for abuse! People are getting hurt and dying at the hands of the people who take an oath to serve and protect the community.

Let’s protest in support for our police officers! 48 were murdered in 2019 versus 19 unarmed whites and 10 African Americans. Of the 10 African Americans, 5 were physically attacking the cop at the time. 1 was supposedly an accident, and 4 were in a pursuit. Of the 4 incidents, 2 cops were charged. In 2015 there were 38 blacks and 32 whites killed. Under Trump it seems things are getting better for the African Americans but not for our cops who are under attack. Seems the protests are protesting about the wrong thing. This data come from the Washington Post, which is quite the liberal press.
Because being a police officer is a career choice. They know the hazards before accepting the job. People of color do not have a choice and are dying Nation wide because of a corrupt, racist system. So why don’t you take your narrative turning trolling and go somewhere else.
Did you not read the post you quoted? In 2019 48 Police Officers were killed. 19 whites and 10 blacks. So you saying all 19 whites were killed by black racist cops?

I’m serious. What makes you think I was being a troll?
Because you used the racist ass police term “Philadelphia Badlands”.
And I’m sure you meant it because you don’t want people protesting here.

What’s the percentage of whites and African Americans in the US? Since you like to throw out numbers, please add them as well.
