If it does then I think it would be a bad idea because that would me less work would get done . I’m not aware of any boards or commissions that meet here on Fridays.” <br /> <br /> Township officials hope, if the Friday closure comes into effect, it will help Cranbury save in energy costs as well as benefit those employees who commute to work each day. <br /> <br /> Although the changes are only under discussion, the township is suggesting extending building’s hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, said Christine Smeltzer, township business administrator. These changes also would be executed on a trial basis. <br /> <br /> ”I think it’s a creative idea, and I don’t want to discourage you by saying I would be here more,” joked resident Dave Mauger, a regular at the meetings. “It may be something to look into on a trial basis for the summer.” <br /> <br /> ”I appreciate this process because myself and my wife are working,” said another resident Josh Kohut. “So evening hours would be appealing to us.” <br /> <br /> While several residents saw it as a positive suggestion, others noted drawbacks. <br /> <br /> ”You have to consider the holidays,” said resident Richard Callen. “A lot of holidays land on Mondays, and you could be closed for four days.” <br /> <br /> Committeeman Jay Taylor recommended the township contact PSE&G to get an estimate of the savings from having the building under minimal usage Fridays. <br /> <br /> The committee also will attempt to get feedback from municipal employees about issues with child care or other after-hour commitments that could be affected by the closure. <br /> <br /> ”I think there are merits to looking into it,” Mr. Taylor said. “I think there’s a balance sheet to look at.
