Of the total shootings only 41 involved “unarmed” people. 20 were white and 10 were black. Of those “unarmed” black offenders. Several charged the officers or hit the officers with a car while attempting to flee. Also, of those 10 shootings 2 officers were subsequently charged. <br /> <br />10 “unarmed”, 2 officers charged out of 1004 shootings <br /> <br />In regards to the argument that police disproportionately target black people. In 2019 black people represented roughly 13% of the national population but were responsible for roughly 50% of all violent crime. <br /> <br />-See Washington Post 2019 use of force report for validation.- <br /> <br />With that being said, What happen to Mr. Floyd was disgusting and those officers need to be punished. Something like that should never happen again. People are protesting police abuse and killings of unarmed African Americans. <br />2. Stop trying to change the narrative. When you do you are doing it to cause conflict. Sadly since most of you are Anonymous you don’t have to bare the shame of the devisive things you say. <br />3. No one is blaming the Cranbury Police and would hope that they would be in solidarity with people protesting. I like the Cranbury PD and even chat with them around town from time to time. <br />4. Seriously, people are angry and grieving right now, show some compassion and some class. If you can’t, be polite and keep your comments to yourself. <br /> <br />I’m not an organizer; I’m just a resident of this town and it’s sad to see a town message board where people have nothing better to do than gripe about the condition of someone’s sidewalk or if their grass is a little too long. I count myself lucky that I’m fortunate to live in such a nice town. Sadly for a town with so many churches it seems like there is a lack of love, empathy and compassion that are the cornerstone of Christianity.
