Does it mean the police needs to drive the police cars for another year or two before a new one gets purchased? That's ok with me. And maybe some funds can go to community outreach.
If you use defunding on this page, define it.
Also --- Cranbury may have a lack of income from taxes coming up. We will be hit by the COVID-19 economical impact. And giving Cranburians a tax break last year instead of paying off our debt maybe was not the best approach. But the holy trinity of Glenn, Jay, Dan wanted it that way.
Keep that in mind when the whining about the budget begins. |
How can posters here define defund the police when it was not them who encouraged it?
Great if they have to drive the car another year or two. Is that possible? The cars run 24/7.
We don’t have office space and has been stated a number of times the property is still assessed at 2008 recession levels. So the tax revenue is stable.
Paying off debt to equal the amount of money we got in terms of a tax reduction would have required a lot more money to be spent.
The tax reduction put money in the homeowners hands last year and this which is what is needed in a recession if we enter one. It is actually what the progressive Democratic Representatives are trying to do with stimulus.
And last I recalled Glenn and Dan are no longer on the TC so This TC could have undone the tax cut and used the funds to pay down whatever debt they wanted. They did not. |

Please. I never said it was a bad event. It was not. It was well organized, peaceful and well done. I only pointed out what I heard on defunding police from the Mayor and no one has denied it. Just looked to change the subject to it being trolling. In fact I asked if anyone had a video as I could not fully hear his remarks. |

I never said it was not positive. It was very peaceful, respectful and I thought well organized. No one is denying Mayor Scott's statements or clarifying them So not sure why you went to my trolling. I pointed out what I heard. It was not trolling to highlight what I heard and ask someone if they had video or clarification. |

I don't think there will riots and looting like in Trenton and other cities. Most likely just peaceful vigil. As far as calling the county .. for what?
SWAT teams and Prosecutors Office task forces? I'm not sure what that means "calling the county". Pretty much our small department polices community style- the way the rest of the country seems to want. We could probably hold up policing in our tiny hamlet as the way it should be everywhere. I don't think any of this is about Cranbury Police. |

Yeah, where did he go? He is largely irrelevant in the conversation. Perhaps still hiding in his bunker. |
He went to his Jersey Golf Course before heading to West Point. Still trying to learn to drink water and having a hard time walking down a ramp. Maybe he inspected the ramp on the way down.
I remember the days when he said he would not play golf like Obama but work everyday for the American People. Hahaha. Promise broken I guess. |

The protest was very well done. It was peaceful. But, Matt still took a position in favor of defunding police. There are FB pages up with that video now. Some may agree and some may disagree. That is not trolling. Again. The evening was a great success and well done by all participants. Nothing should detract from that. |

Trolls on this page are unhappy with peaceful protest. But then again, trolls are generally selfish and unhappy creatures. It was great seeing mayor Scott there tonight as well as other Democratic members of the TC. |

The vigil was peaceful. It was a powerful discussion about racism toward Black people. One of the youth that spoke said we should speak out against daily bias and racism in our town. Someone should start with this site. It is a forum for hate and divisions. The owners should shut it down. |

Defund Cranbury police? When the child was struck by a car a couple of years ago, Cranbury wanted more police. Very disappointing to
think Matt Scott would make such a recommendation. |

I could not hear all of the Mayor’s speech tonight, but it sounded when I got there that he did in fact encourage the defunding of police. I missed part and it was more of a defense. The clapping I heard made it a bit hard to hear as well when he talked of taking the money and putting it elsewhere like Pre-k. I am a bit hard of hearing so apologies. I did see people video taping. If people have a copy it would be appreciated. |
