Just a why this is a good idea. When we moved into our home a few years ago we went around and changed all the batteries. The prior owner had marked the batteries on when they were changed. Many had a date that was older than 3 years.

It is also a good idea to look at the manufactur date at this time. We change our alarms every 5 years though the life span can be as much as 10 years. We too found alarms that were from the early 90's. They were older than my kids at the time.

It's that time of year when we encourage everyone to change the batteries in your smoke and Co detectors! When replacing batteries, please make sure to use the manufacturer recommended replacement. Also check the dates on your detectors. Follow manufacturer's recommendation on replacement, typically replace smoke detectors every 10 years and CO detectors are every 7.
