I don't see why we need to teach french to kids of that age. Spanish, yes, but french, no.
Since they currently only offer French at that age and not Spanish, I understoof the cut to mean that there would be no foreign language taught in those grades.
That said, why is this a crisis. I am glad my daughter got to do it but the school is having to make serious choices and compromises and I don't see why this one was a holy grail. A vast majority of schools don't offer foreign language at those grade levels and the world keeps turning. One of my kids did have it at those levels and the other didn't and they both knew about the same amount by the end of the third grade so its questionable how much the early exposure really helped them.
And for the person protesting, what is your suggestion? Every single thing being cut will negatively affect someone. The lack of the late buses or after hours library, the cuts to the music programs, the loss of certain sports, etc. If we start protesting everything that matters to some people we're back to the full budget which isn't passable.
People who have young kids pay to have them play sports. Why can't the older kids pay too? Anyway, kids should be riding bikes and playing on the playgrounds after school. You shouldn't start them too young at competitive play. The parents and the coaches get a little crazy with the winning and the politics that the games lose meaning for the kids.
I can't figure out what any of this has to do with the previously quoted post.

I heard that the school wants to cut French for K,1st & 2nd grade.
This is ridiculous.
Any parents who wish to fight this, leave a message on here while I get a petition together to send to the school administration.
Serious responses only.
