This is Mayor Matt Scott. In response to this discussion, I would like to make it clear that appointing a Local OEM Coordinator who is a resident of Cranbury is a requirement. The incoming Cranbury Police Chief is not a resident of Cranbury. Our Local Office of Emergency Management consists of the Local OEM Coordinator, a deputy OEM Coordinator (who has been a member of the police force and will continue to be), the Township Administrator, and the Mayor. The Local OEM Coordinator's role is to coordinate activities between police, EMS, fire, public works and town management. It's a role about coordination and communication. Outgoing Police Chief Varga was appointed to this position while he was a resident of Cranbury. The state does not require that the appointee be the chief of police or a member of the police department, but does require that he or she be a resident of the town. As Mayor, I am required to appoint a replacement. I was given a list of names to consider by Chief Varga and our Township Administrator for Local OEM Coordinator, all whom have the background, time and commitment to fulfill the duties of the role. Our township attorney has reviewed the state guidelines and approved the appointment of former mayor and township committee member Susan Goetz. The OEM Coordinator position is an unpaid appointment, having nothing to do with police budgeting. If anyone has further questions on this or any other matter then please contact me directly at: mscott@cranbury-nj.com. I am much more comfortable discussing issues outside of an anonymous forum.
Is this a volunteer or paid position?
If paid, how much is the Emergency Coordinator compensated (pay/pension)?

I do not know what’s happened toCranbury. Do we just have a new breed of people moving to town that love to spread hate? I’ve lived here for over 50 years and have never heard, seen, or read such hatred for anyone in any party. Whoever you people are, you need to get on board with what Cranbury is, and that we believe (or use to) in treating everyone with respect whether you agree with that person or not. We have gone through some tough times with some decisions not being popular (6 acre zoning, selling the water company, etc.), but at least we disagreed with respect and debated the issues. You folks who are ridiculously immature with your hateful comments about another resident in town need to grow up or move away.

Jay has served our town admirably for a decade which is more than can be said for most of the A-holes that have it out for him.
Susan also served our town well and does not deserve the grief she’s been getting for being willing to help.
If the mayor made a mistake in an effort to mend fences within his own party, that is a shame and should be noted by voters.
We get what we vote for.
Susan's grief started with Jay posting his hatred on this board.
Jay was a republican until that party couldn't stand his bs anymore. Then he became a DINO.

The above post is an excellent example of the small mindedness and outright stupidity of some of the people on this board. Blaming small town in-fighting within the Local Democrat Party on Republicans is about as laughably stupid as you can get and using Trump as the boogie man for everything is downright silly.

Jay needs to be loved and his ego needs to be stroked at all times. Please don't call him weasel or child anymore. It's offensive to weasels and children. Both are better than Jay.

Again the Dems with the personal attacks. You guys tried to sneak one through and got caught. The law was not followed for the one position that leads the town in an emergency. Why not ask why our Police Officer who lives in town was passed over or why others with first responder experience were passed over.
If this is your attitude than glad to see you leave in 14 months when you retire.

what is the political gain for having Susan be the OEM? all i hear is excuses because Jay didn't like the selection and now he is going to "TAKES HIS TOYS AND GO HOME" like a pouting little child.

Post subject: Re: Step toward defunding police
For years Matt and Mike cried that Dan and Jay kept them out of the loop and made decisions without them. Now that Matt and his Deputy are in power they have resorted to the same tactics. It is very sad that this appointment was not discussed with Evelyn, Barbara and Jay prior to the meeting. Anyone who says the mayor has equal power as the rest of the committee members is a dreamer.
It was surprising that neither Evelyn nor Barbara did not take any stand at the meeting but just let this appointment slide by. Barbara is lock step with Matt but Evelyn usually has better judgement and speaks her mind if something seems irregular.
On another note: The Administrator and the Attorney should be held accountable for their errors in guiding Matt on this matter.

I love the irony of the party loving Dems (not just the affiliated ones). They post hate has no home here signs in their yards, and yet are the most hate filled people I know.
Matt was caught lying, ignoring the legal requirements and all three Matt, Mike and Susan went out of their way to try and make a point there was no political patronage to the Press. When that happens it is clear this was political. No one is calling any of them names. Because that is not how non-Dems live their lives— grown adults insulting people. For the hard core Dems they have no other means of discussion other than to insult and name call. QQ04 and 829p if different people prove that point.

To Anon-qq04: your name calling of Jay leads me to believe that you volunteer as much as Jay, or you’ve serviced on the TC for as many years as Jay, or you have done as much for Cranbury as Jay, his parents ( one of whom served on the school board and TC), or his grandparents (again of who 1 was a school board member and 1 a charter member and active in the CHS), or even his uncle who ran the History center. So, I guess since you are so active and beneficial to Cranbury, that you have the right to post such an absurd comment. After reading such an asinine comment, I fully understand why Jay will not run again, much to your pleasure, and much to the detriment of Cranbury.
Good! It's no loss.
