I just received my tax bill. It was pretty disturbing to see our county tax rate is .267 from .255 a 5% increase over last year vs a town tax of .375 . Our wonderful representatives in Trenton want us to consolidate or operate on a county level. However, our town which has it's own services and all our our state mandates is .108 higher than a county tax. Here is the proof and justification as to why county consolidation will not work in NJ to reduce expenses especially when those at the county level are the same running the state.
