| I agree with a previous poster who said there is probably just a troll here posting these comments. I can't really believe any parent living in this town would really be taking the position that asking the school to do basic due diligence on whether the bus driver was at fault is really just complaining or not relevant. No parent or anyone with half a brain would really say that . They obviously are just making stupid comments to rile others up. Of course its responsible for parents to care about that, just as they are careful not to let their kids take rides with other parents from the front seat or without a child seat, etc. That's parenting 101. The poster, who's done probably 3-4 replies here is just loser 101. |

50mph is a little bit too fast. 35 or 40 seems more suitable.--
Yeah Right, You can't even get the mothers to drive 35-40 in town after they pick their kids up from school.. and yes I was RIGHT behind one mother on Friday as she pulled out of the school and I was able to go 35 behind her. Then she turned onto Old Trenton Rd... do you think she only did 50 there?? Maybe we need to have the police patroling the road more often instead of standing around watching the crew work on Main St.... just a thought |

The police "watching the crew on Main Street" are not on duty. They are being paid by the contractor on their day off.
Maybe instead of following the mother doing 35mph on Main Street and whatever on Old Trenton Road, you should do the speed limit and slow the other drivers behind you down. Maybe you should write the license plate down of the mother who was speeding and make a complaint to the police and let them speak to her....Just a Thought. |

Or just maybe you should come to a town meeting and ask the council members (YOUR NEIGHBORS) why the police manpower has been reduced. The police chief explained it, most of the time there is only 2 cops on duty. And with one crossing little Johny and little Mary at the school, theirs 13.8 square miles to cover for officer two.
Ask the council members why they are putting the towns safety at risk. |

I don't think anyone has said the fault is on the driver of the school bus. |

What are you talking about? There were plenty of parents, including some of those who posted here, who did follow-up with the school about the incident and the other problems with that particular bus. What exactly was the "bold suggestion" and what exactly further is appropriate action?
Supposedly, by the way, the bus blew a tire, lost control and crashed into a car. The driver has not been replaced and is still on the route. |

The bus drove away from the scene I saw it. The tire never blew. Please stop spreading rumors and get all the facts.
The bus driver made a mistake like anyone else could have. Let's be thankful no one was hurt and move on from this topic. |

That "rumor" was what the school said, so if it is a false rumor that's who's spreading it. The bus driving away later (it was there for quite a while) doesn't mean it didn't blow a tire. But if you know better than the school, why not share the details? What mistake did the driver make, as you put it? |

I think the school is misinformed or hiding something. According to my friend who was the driver of the car the bus pulled out in front of him from the side of the road. He said the bus caused the accident and did not have any flat tires at all.
I don't know why the school would say the bus had a blow out? But if it did I would imagine it would have to be towed since the tires are so big and the bus would have been leaning to the side if the tire blew. |

The "study" was a bit weird. They put speed sensors on the road for a few weeks, and determined that 85% of the traffic drove at or below the speed limit, therefore the current speed limit it fine. That makes no sense to me. If the speed limit was posted as 70, you'd also see at least 85% of the traffic at or below that speed... that doesn't mean it's a safe speed!!!
There are driveways and cross streets along Old Trenton Road. Entering and exiting the road is downright dangerous. I can't tell you how many times a day you hear brakes squealing and cars swerving when a car needs to make a turn onto a sidestreet or driveway. There are lots of accidents. There are places where there is no sidewalk so pedestrians are forced to walk on the road.
The town has repeatedly asked the county to lower the speed limit to 40MPH. The county does not seem interested. 50MPH makes no sense for a residential street. To compare, Route 133, a divided, limited-access highway, also has a 50MPH speed limit. |
the road senor was very close to the main street light which is why the speeds registered so low. but i still dont think the speed needs to change, the cops need to sit on that road more, because like me the majority of the poeple driving that road are going closer to 60, except for me i go like 85 90 |
