Well there goes any chance in having a deli/resturaunt where Hannah & Massons used to be. The real estate office next door bought the building and will be ripping all the grills and freezers out of the place. What a shame, because that would have been a perfect place for another business. The way it looks in this town its going towards all offices....

The planning board has done nothing to make our town business friendly. What restaurant in there right mind would want to open here?

We need a starbucks. It would be a good alternative to the Blue Rooster. I think the minimum age to go there is 75.

Offices are good -- to revitalize businesses downtown we need PEOPLE downtown -- ALL DAY. The new offices at PNC and perhaps if this business has a significant amount of employees will be GOOD for downtown businesses. The problem for Cranbury businesses is that we don't have enough spenders to support them. Yes we could use a nice high end restaurant in town -- but Cranbury residents alone can't be the only patrons -- not enough $$$ to be made.

Good point. It is a chicken or egg scenario. I believe the office spaces will bring people (workers and customers in) in turn that will create needs and we can have businesses open to meet those needs. For example, a deli may end up opening because with Sweet water and Sothebys we have more people who will want to walk for a quick bite to eat as opposed to drive. Perhaps a dry cleaner will open to make it easier for those who work in the area to run an errand and so forth....

But the point is - having the real estate office using the hannah and masson building destroys the perfect freezer and kitchen they had built in there. are there not any other buildings they can use that are not eqiuped for office? using this builiding does not make any sense when we could have a deli or something else in there... I know where charmed by claire used to be that space is available.

I'm always amazed at how people think they can just go around town picking and choosing where businesses "should" be. They locate where there is space for sale that fits their budget and their needs. I would love to drive around Cranbury and just "pick" where I would like to live, but the fact is I can only buy a house that is for sale and that fits my budget. That is reality.

These problems lay clearly at the feet of the PLANNING board.

There was a WAWA proposed on Rt 130 and Station Rd which would really have been nice and convenient. Our "not in my backyard" people in Cranbury nixed that

This in a nutshell is the biggest problem we face. It is not the TC or the PB. It is the nimby attitude on the part of us, the citizenry.

No one likes a Nimby, until they go to put something in your backyard.

If that is how you feel fine. But don't complain about a lack of new businesses or high taxes. That is the consequence of NIMBY

There was some talk that the Wawa was vetoed because it was a threat to the downtown businesses. How could that be true? Does anyone think that people traveling on 130 are stopping to get a cup of coffee at the Blue Rooster? HA!

10 years before that we were against the White Hen because it would compete with the market on main street. The market is long gone and so it goes.
