Why are you bringing me into this? I have never claimed to speak on behalf of all "non conservatives or not Republicans." I speak for myself alone. I created the name at least a couple years ago as a response to "cranbury conservative." It has no more meaning than that. Though it is true that I am a Democrat. Am I not allowed to be a Democrat if I disagree with you or other registered Democrats on any issue?

You seem to have a lot of hostility. Your response to anything posted that you don't agree with is to imply some conservative conspiracy here rather than to engage on the actual points being raised. Why not try discussing the actual issues instead of dismissing everything as liberals versus the conservative hoard? I for one would love to see an intellectual discourse on some of these issues and not just name calling.

A point well taken. I am the idiot who keeps writing, "read the Bill". It is a bad bill. I really don't think this is a conservative or liberal issue it is a quality of legislation issue. My gripe is the state government is passing a bill that will have little effect on state government practices with maximum effect on Township and School practices.

Ironically, if companies were required to pay a living wage, affordable housing would be a virtual non-issue. Most workers making the prevailing wage will make too much money to qualify for COAH housing. Allowing companies to pay sub-standard wages creates a class of "working poor" and also drives illegal immigration.

This is a valid postition. However, this bill does nothing to require companies to pay a prevailing wage. It requires local government and Schools to pay a prevailing wage.

If you feel strongly about this, you don't need legislation. Attend local TC and School board meetings and ask that wage rates for certain positions be raised. Realize the trade off, the budget must be cut in other areas or taxes raised. You would probably end up with fewer but higher paid workers.

Realize you don't need legislation to do this.

Good points. My point was essentially academic. Requiring a "living wage" would only work on a regional or national scale. Otherwise, the impact would be temporary until the market adjusted by gravitating toward cheaper labor markets.
