The premier of a new movie "Extraordinary Measures" opens this Friday 22nd, staring Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser about Cranbury businessman John Crowley. In the movie Brendan Fraser plays Crowley who has only a few years, if that, to find a therapy that will halt the disease that afflicts his two children. Ages 7 and 9, both his kids have Pompe disease, a genetic disorder that confines patients to wheelchairs and respirators. As depicted in "Extraordinary Measures," Crowley (Fraser) a drug company exec who refused to accept what doctors told him was inevitable — that his daughter, Megan, and son Patrick would likely die by the age of 9, the average life expectancy for patients suffering from the severe neuromuscular disease.....

Thank you Ed. I can't imagine how difficult his life must be. I wonder if our town is doing anything in support of him or this movie? It is not every day a local businessman or resident is the focus for a full length feature film.

Amazing story. I remember reading it in the Wall Street Journal.

The article doesn't specific his ties to Cranbury specifically, versus New Jersey. Can someone fill in the details?

John Crowley is President and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics in Cranbury since Jan 2005. I believe he is a resident of Princeton and there was talk about running senate in 2008 and for gov. in 2009.
