Anyone know any know about the Library budget this year? I am asking because I read how the town council announced a few weeks back our taxes would be the same as last year. I see here on this website that the school will be raising my taxes even though I dont have kids and now I am wondering about the Library. Did they get more moeny this year or less? Are they giving Raises for the employees? I remember someone telling me they get the money they get no matter how tough times are because of some law in the town that saws that. |

The state law mandates library funding and it is based on the assessed value of the property in town. The funding will decrease this year, but they will get the same percentage as that is what the law dictates. |

Did the library get raises? I heard the Cranbury Employees are getting raises and so are the teachers. Does the library fall under one of those when it comes to pay increases? I am on a fixed income and would like to know what this is all costing me and where my money is going. |

Teacher salaries are set by a contract beyond the local districts control and the library budget is mandated by the State and is already vastly in excess of the costs to operate it since we correctly and effeciently share it with the school (though they have separate staffs), so even if their salaries do go up (I have no idea if they are) it wouldn't put much of a dent in the library surplus. |

I don't think the library has a lot of money. They are receiving a lot less this year AND they are paying rent. No excess money there.. Most of their staff works part-time. |

I appreciated your responding. Now what about the police? Did they get a raise this year because they do a wonderful job |

From speaking with someone on the board there is still a lot of surplus. However, some is used toward a future library and some may be used to help the senior programs the town does or the Rec program.
Any raised though come out of that money supplied. |

The township and school have posted their budgets online for us all to see. Can the library do the same? Or should I say will the library do the same? |

Heard all state public library funding has been cut. Also, heard our library will make presentation to the township committee next month to include budget. I think everyone is scrambling to try and figure out how these cuts hit the bottom line. |

Since they are funded separately with our taxes it would be nice to see the budget posted. Even better perhaps budgets for the last 2 or 3 years so we can all see the cuts in the budget from last year to this year. |
