Kind of late to the party. This was discussed for pages and pages back when it was happening.

The site was sold to a local construction company whose offices are being torn down as part of the Turnpike widening project. They are going to put their offices in most of the existing bank building, converting some of the front into leasable space and they already have a bike shop lined up as a tenant. The front section of parking is being turned BACK into a residential house (as it originally was) and the rear parking will remain for the office of the office space and shop. The house is intended, at least initially, for the father of principles of the construction company to occupy.

Overall this seems like a pretty good outcome. The parking never belonged to the city or school. It's great to hear a house is returning to where it should be and that we'll have a new, useful shop and local thriving business. If the township or the school had payd the million-plus to purchase the site we'd be dealing with even worse budget issues now than we already are.

If I recall correctly, the TC agreed at a recent meeting to ask American water if they would be willing to sell or donate the land where the water tower stood. I think Mr. Cook agreed to lead that review, but could be mistaken. We could then have a public parking lot on that property. I wonder where that stands.

Why are people in this town so obsessed with parking?
If you want a school with a giant parking lot then why not move to any one of the massive school districts that surround us?

What this town needs is an infusion of retail and pedestrians in the downtown area!
Its good for the town, for the kids, for our property values and also good for our waistlines !

New businesses will not come here without adequate parking unless they are very small operations. (gil and berts ect..)

Great, no problem, because we already have adequate parking. Any business doing an objective review of Main Street would conclude our parking situation is almost as good as it gets.

They would probably also conclude that our businesses get pretty light customer flow except from locals, which is a small base that only works for certain types of businesses. That's a much bigger problem than parking.

That's the point. Parking isn't the problem. Customers are.

The last post was right on target. The Cranbury Hardware Store did not close due to lack of parking nor did Patina Home. How many Cranbury residents spent $ there instead of Lowes or Home Goods?

My family is looking to open a small business on Main St. and are just waiting for the perfect space to open up. Is it hard to get approval for a new business in Cranbury? It would be for the kids in town. Does anyone know of any storefronts for rent or sale?

My suggestion would be to call businesses that opened up in the past year or two and ask them directly about their experience.

A Wawa the parking lot will have 2 gas pumps. Finally we will be able to get gas in town again, and some candy cigarettes, and ice cream to go with it, just like the good ole' days.

Scott Ave. has become impossible. It is one lane since all the cars park there for the Blue Rooster. This is not fair to those who live there.

Scott Ave-continuing onto Maplewood, should be made into a ONE WAY street going North up to Plainsboro Road. The bend in the street from Scott onto Maplewood is way too narrow for 2 way traffic anyway. Traffic from where the BP station is will be turned onto Plainsboro Rd. and made to flow onto the major roads in town. Instead of having maniacs fly down Maplewood doing 50 MPH and clogging the area with unneccessary traffic.
Park Pl. & Westminster could remain 2 way streets.
