Porchfest sounds like a FABULOUS idea!!!!!!!!!

If you like getting eaten alive by bugs while sitting on someone's porch trying to be clever with small talk and a glass of wine.

I'm with you! Here's what I love about Cranbury (and I'm sure someone will post something about how they don't want their taxes to pay for whatever it is, or that it's too noisy or crowded, or some other complaint -- 'tis the way of this board, I'm afraid) in no particular order:

- Gil and Berts
- PorchFest
- Teddy's & Blue Rooster
- "Happy Hunting" room at Charmed by Claire
- Percussion groups at Cranbury School
- Chris the Crossing Guard -- hope he has a great summer
- Sitting on a bench, watching the lake
- Watching the spinach tractor go back and forth
- Memorial Day parade
- Fourth of July (and the outdoor movie night)
- My neighbors!

I could go on...

Friday nights all Summer starting a 6pm a different resident hosts PrchFest, an outdoor neighborhood party. Anyone is welcome. Everyone brings an item of food, etc. so the host doesn't provide anything except their backyard and it is strictly outside. Great local activity and example of community. No tax dollars involved, just good neighbors.
I suppose someone had to tell you that was spinach. I hope you don't live in Shadow Oaks, beacuse you people are not welcome here any more, stay out there and complain about speed limits.

Is it just me or is this the most mean spirited post on this site. I don't think anyone had to tell them that was spinach. I do wish someone would have told you how to spell because.

The comment made about those of us living in Shadow Oaks is vile and represents a prejudice that began when my family and I moved to this wonderful community 25 years ago. I thought the community had advanced beyond such narrow mindedness, but apparently not. Despite having been a contributing member of our community for the majority of the 25 years, I guess there are those who still do not welcome us. I am still hopeful that the majority of Cranbury residents do not feel the same ugly, prejudicial attitude about Shadow Oaks residents, however, where are folks disputing what was said?...or is this going to be one of those uncomfortable statements that causes people to turn the other way and sort of pretend it was not stated. Meanwhile, such statements do harm, just like any other example of prejudice.

I don't believe that is the common sentiment in town, but rather some kid or some person like many others who have shown up the last year or two looking to simply fan flames.

Let me add to the above posters comments that there are a number of second, third or even longer generation Cranbury residents who live or have lived in Shadow Oaks. I always laugh when I hear these negative comments about Shadow Oaks residents and they are not usually made by people who would have claim as being any more long time than someone else. In fact, I would bet the average homeownership tenure in Shadow Oaks is higher than other areas of town today.

To each his own. I can see where a social gathering, like PorchFest, may be uncomfortable for someone with your personality. Honestly, it sounds like we're all better off without your participation.
