I'd also ike to see an agenda. We have to many of these (agendas) happening under the table. It would be nice to use modern technoogy (ie. the website) for something more than to let the residents know that the time has been changed. It's unfortunate that the only conversations of real issues have to happen on chat boards and when the citizens are motivated by some bad decisions/agendas being railroaded in a board meeting. The notion that a few citizens make the decisions for all is where our biggest problems come from. |

I don't know why the agenda is not showing. However, the agenda is put up on the website and also posted here the majority of the time. I would guess this was probably an accidental oversight. I'm not going to get upset just yet over one meeting.
In terms of a few people. The TC is elected by the town residents charged with making decisions. So if we don't like the direction then we can vote them out. |

Did I miss something? Why are we doing this? |

There has been a whole thread on this. Why not? Why not have the TC look to see if we can save money under one contract as opposed to the residents negotiating contracts individually? All it says is to investigate looking at it? I think the TC probably wants to see the town view on the topic. Frankly, I think it's great to see the TC looking to residents to get input on matters. |

What about a referendum for parking for all of us here on Scott and Maplewood? I see parking as a much larger issue for us since we lost PNC bank parking. As a result the streets are now crowded and not safe. |

One advantage is that the garbage collection fees are included in the property tax if we decide to implement it. If the monthly fee is $30, a yearly fee will be $360, saving a few dollars in tax. I am hoping my monthly fee will be cheaper than $30/month if the whole town shops for a deal. |

It also depends on how they bill us if they take it over. If all they do is take the total cost and add it to the municipal budget, it will be grossly unfair. Someone who already pays highr taxes will pay more than they do now, possibly for worse service, and will effectively be subsidizing others. Right now we have choices. Some people get twice-a-week service, some just once. Some pay for larger or multiple cans. Some go with companies that are more relzed about extra bags on occasion, etc. If we're not careful, we lose all the flexibility. The likely result is like public/private schools -- some people would still need to contract privately to enhance the service they already pay through their taxes. |

garbage plan? Guest

I am not sure how the town is going to accommodate everyone. I am on a once-a-week plan; my neighbors are on a twice-a-week plan. How about zero-per-week (people who take care of their own garbage disposal)?
Do we have this kind of choice if the town takes over? |

It says flat quarterly fee. So it would not be based on property value if it is a flat fee.
I support looking at this option. |

This idea of the town taking over trash makes no sense. Is this the most important issue for the town right now? |

What do you want from a referendum? I think the TC is already discussing options and looking at alternatives. They have been for the last 20 some years. Do you really want a referendum that says should the TC look at the parking issue on Maplewood? I think a lot of voters will say no and then you're stuck. So isn't it in your interest to go to a TC meeting and ask they look at it without asking voters for their interest?
With a garbage collection, I would prefer they get our feedback before looking at it to see if the town residents are interested. |

So vote no you don't want the town looking at it.
It amazes me how people don't even want to see if they can save money. |

WHAT? So we can have a referendum to look at one issue but not others? That seems to be preferential to me. |
