How do you know Ms. Alfonso was misinterpreted when neither she, nor the administration, bothered to make a clarification?

O'Keefe's video shows Ms. Alfonso saying "we're playing video game on their dime. Hahahaha. It's like, screw you!"

Is it likely she was quoted out of context by a politically motivated sleazebag who selectively edited the video to make her look bad? Yep.

But in the absence of a statement by Ms. Alfonso or the school administration, how would you know?

This guy O'Keefe is a real right wing crazy. Don't have to look very hard to see his distorted outlook

Whether or not O'Keefe is a politically motivated sleazbag does not change the fact that Ms. Alfonso's comments became part of a major news story. If O'Keefe deliberately twisted her words around to make her look like a fool I would think she, or someone in the administration, would gladly take a moment to clarify her position.

Your wish is noted. Appaently they haven't chosen to grant your desire for a clarification and they have no requirement or obligation to do so. Not doing so doesn't mean you or the story is right or wrong. Just that they didn't feel like responding and don't have to.

Past that is there anything else to discuss that's not redundant?

Why respond to crazy

I think this story's credibility speaks for itself -- but shame on you for infecting our commumity and its teacher with your vileness

Probably not at this point.

I really respect that Alissa Ploshnick took responsibility for her comments. "I'm not proud of what I said," she said the the Star-Ledger, "I just wanted to get back to my kids.'' That takes a lot of courage, especially after what O'Keefe did to her and the way her district and union allowed her to be used her as a scapegoat.

This happens a lot. Guest has multiple personality disorder. She doesn't usually go as far as to accuse her other personalities of "infecting our community with vileness". It looks like she may have been off her meds for a while.

There is no definitive evidence that this is Kat Alfonso's voice.

...just as other O'Keefe videos were proven fraudulent and out of context, so will this one.

Crazy time in New Jersey. Widely discredited right wing partisan produces a smear video. O'Keefe has over and over produced hack videos - and he has evenattempted to bug a US Senator's office. Now we have the same union/teacher haters as Christie trying to legitimite it.

I don't know where you get your notion that she has some obligation to respond, clarify, apologize. She doesn't owe us anything.

The idea that she is obligated to apologize or clarify just because someone choses to be concerned or take one of many possible interpretations is silly.

At most its possible she said something that reflects a unfavorably on her personal opinion or character. That's not against any laws or rules and said away from work is not even grounds for action. So she doesn't owe us anything.

Yeah! Look at what these teacher-bashing, union-hating are saying now...

Quote:
Passaic Superintendent Robert Holster, who said he considered bringing harsher punishment of tenure charges, said ... Ploshnick’s comments — which he called "professionally insulting" and not "the responsible behavior of a professional person employed by the Passaic Board of Education" — merited the response. He said the tape created "kind of an outrage" in Passaic. "The character of an educator has to be beyond the school bell. It doesn’t take place only in school," Holster said.

A spokesman for the NJEA said Ploshnick "deeply regrets what she said"

Who would have guessed an NJEA spokesman and an Abbott District Superintendent were "in" on the right-wing, teacher-bashing, union-hating conspiracy?

What is the point of stringing together completely different quotes from different posters not even referring to the same thing as if they were all stated together? Doesn't that make you guilty of exactly the same kind of behavior some people are accusing O'Keefe of? It's easy to make a point when you make up what you are responding to. Did you think you one would notice that you cut-and-pasted unrelated quotes from different posters together?

Then you try to confuse the matter further by taking the different quotes, only some of which had to do with Ms. Alfonso, you know the subject of this topic, and link them to an article and quotes about a totally different teacher.

Is O'Keefe making an appearance as Guest on the Cranbury Forum?

Rather than repeat the post, I'm replying to post 109 above.

In the past few weeks, I posted that I think it would be appropriate for Ms. Alfonso, or the school district, to address Ms. Alfonso's comments in the O'Keefe video. I suggested she should apologize, if her comments were portrayed accurately or clarify if they were not.

Some posts thoughtfully disagreed. Many, however, seemed to draw the conclusion that I must be an O'Keefe-trusting, Beck-following, poorly-educated, union-bashing, teacher-hating right wing nut infecting the community with vileness, as illustrated above and throughout this thread.

The fact that another teacher featured in the same video, her Superintendent and an NJEA spokesperson, ALL felt it was appropriate to respond, clarify, express regret and apologize for her comments, shows how ridiculous some of the criticisms of my POV really are.

Because the other teacher used a word that has become a societal taboo. The Cranbury teacher made a comment that has nothing to do with the school district and seems to most of us to be pretty innocuous. I don't know what her apology is all about.

With all that said the teacher and district that did respond I didn't really get. The gist of her comment was once a teacher is tenured it is nearly impossible to get rid of them. Even if they say the N word.

Do any of us disagree with that statement? In fact in,sn't that one of the problems facing schools and school reform initiatives? I must admit
