I haven't heard about a firing.

There is a middle school English teacher who has been absent a lot and they sent home a letter today saying there would be a longer term sub for her starting next week. But the letter implied it was temporary.

The one who's been absent and is getting the sub is Alfonso. I know nothing about any alleged firing.

Isn't that the same teacher that was in the paper last summer for getting caught on video laughing about screwing taxpayers by playing video games while at a teacher conference or something like that?

Video game addiction is a serious illness, often requiring years of treatment! Very Happy

In all serouosnes, I hope whatever she's going through works out and she ends up OK.

Don't know which teacher, but the one in the video was laughing about doing it on the Unions dime. We have been all through this, it was a union meeting, not a teacher conference. Taxpayers do not pay for union meetings. Either you weren't paying attention, or you have an ax to grind.

Actually, neither Ms. Alfonso, nor the school administration, took the opportunity to clarify her statements on the video, so the public will never know what she meant. That was the point many posters seemingly missed from the last thread on that subject.

This situation seems like a private personnel matter. There are a host of reasons Ms. Alfonso may be frequently absent. In all likelihood she is going through some personal challenge and I wish her the best.

Again it was a union event that had nothing to do with tax payer money. No one has to clarify anything. You have an ax to grind.

And again you have missed the point entirely. Rather than rehash the debate, it is probably best to let it go. Only Ms. Alfonso or the school administration can bring closure to this debate and they have chosen not to comment.

I got the letter like other parents. I haven’t heard anything about being fired. And I don’t care about that video from last year. Haven’t seen it and don’t need to.

I do care about whether my kids are getting a great education and I have to say I’m not sad to see someone else taking over the class hopefully for the rest of the year. I don’t know her personally and haven’t had any kids with her before so I have no idea what her circumstances are. She may be a great teacher normally and have something going on in her life . I wish her the best personally.

But this year has been almost a total waste for my child. Her curriculum has been far too basic, much more so than the other English classes in the same grade. They do more writing in Social Studies than English. They rarely have homework beyond the few major projects all the classes do and basic grammar and vocab worksheets. They aren’t reading challenging texts like the other classes. And they get almost no useful feedback. Last quarter she didn’t grade any of the major assignments or tests until after the quarter was done. So there was work from November that the kids had no idea how they did on going into the quarter finals in February. Isn’t the point of seeing how you did to learn what you did wrong and improve? A majority of their grade was missing until the day of report cards. This quarter in what precipitated the letter from the school administrator she hasn’t returned any assignment, quiz or test all quarter and hadn’t posted a single grade. I guess enough parents must have finally complained. She’s been absent frequently for extended days and there’s no coordination with the subs. The class was so far behind on their “wax museum” project that they had to get subs for the other two English teacher’s classes for a day last week so they could play catch-up giving feedback and direction to her students. Clearly something is wrong. I wish her well but am glad the school is doing something to hopefully try to benefit the kids before the year is done. I just wish they had done it sooner.

I understand your point, I am saying it is nonsensical, therefore you must have an ax to grind. This is a union event held in the summer. The school should have no comment on it at all. Should your employer comment when you put comments on a message board outside of work hours. This is absurd. The debate was closed months ago. Until you again brought it up.

You clearly don't understand the point, butthat's OK. Maybe you will someday. What I don't understand isif you want this issue to go awasy, why you keep trying to pick a fight about it.

We all get your point. We simply disagree with it. Your are so arrogant you assume no one could possibly disagree with you, they must just not understand your point.

I assure you everyone gets your point. Some of us just disagree with you (mainly because you have an ax to grind).

But please continue on in your fantasy world where no one can comprehend your brilliance.
