Richard Moody, of Cranbury
It’s been nearly a year since I wrote a letter to your newspaper in which I raved about bucolic and tranquil Cranbury after my wife and I had moved to the village from Plywood Junction.
But hold on! It’s not so idyllic after all since those blasted emergency sirens (although reduced in frequency) are still continuing to disturb the peace of an otherwise sublime community.
Why is it that the township continues to allow this unnecessary noise pollution when our historic district has such stringent visual pollution constraints, which have helped maintain the beauty of one of the oldest villages in New Jersey.
Apart from the tacky neon “open” sign, surrounded by twinkling blue stars, at the ancient Cranbury Inn (where the owner is also allowed to park his vulgar bright yellow “Va Bene” Corvette in pole position in full view of passersby) and the tired looking psychedelic bench outside Charmed by Claire, the township has wisely kept any potential visual pollution from taking over.
Why then the loathsome sirens? Because the village has always had them? Because the decision-makers at the township are friends with the fine fire and first aid volunteers?

What an ignorant B#%! My G-d get over yourself! I am no fan of Mr. "Va Bene" but complaining that the township "allows him to park his yellow corvette in pole position" on his property?I am sick of hearing you complain about the sirens and now outright insulting the volunteers.(I am not one and I am not related to one) So what if they do want people to know when they are responding? Recently the volunteers had to respond to a terrible tragic situation involving a young person. They have to deal with enough and they do not deserve continued grief from you. Oh by the way donating $50 or $100 to show your "support" does excuse your campaign of selfish harrasment. Keep your generous donation. The issue of sirens was brought up and the conclusion was reached. So sorry it wasn't what you wanted. Get over it or move. |

Mr. Moody,
You do not seem to be happy here. It does not sound as if you could be happy anywhere. Maybe it is time that you move to some other town where you can complain that the crickets are too loud. Your letter makes me angry and makes me feel sorry for you at the same time.
Next will be the letters complaining that Main Street is closed for the Parade. "I just moved in a year ago and I am complaining that I cannot get to Teddy's for lunch because the road is closed. I have petitioned the town to cancel the parade since it inconveniences me" |

The TC, residents and voluneteers came up with a compromise and as a Main St resident I am very happy with the result.
In your letter you say that the sirens remain because the volunteers are friends with TC members. Well, can you imagine what the town would be like if we all did not try to be friends and instead acted on our own personal views? The town as we know it would cease to exist. The problems that this lovely town have had always centered on when people failed to try and work on a compromise and in the overall town interest. We succeed when we all come together.
To insult people for parking their car in a driveway is ridiculous. As a new resident (only a few years here) I can understand why people get angry with "some" new residents. If you moved here remember why you did so. If you moved here because you want it to be like another town then perhaps you made the wrong choice in towns. I have lived places I loved and places I hated. Those I hated I did not stay long in because I was not going to force my views on a community. |

Dispense with people who don't volunteer for anything and complain about everything, once and for all! |

Maybe that's one of the things you should have checked before moving into this town. I grew up here, not far from the EMT Squad and on days when the wind blew right could also hear the fire signal... of course we could also hear the church bells on those days so I guess those should have to be stopped. I don't understand why anyone who moves into a town can't just deal with what's there to begin with. The sirens and church bells never bothered anyone before, or at least not enough to make the TC compromise on the noise. You know what, you moved close enough to one of these building to be able to hear the noise.... DEAL WITH IT.... or there are homes for sale in Shadow Oaks. |

Shadow Oaks already has its fair share of whiners and complainers. |

I hope the committee realizes that no further action is needed. This is just one selfish individual who cannot appeased. This guy(Moody) should no longer be taken seriously and the siren issue should be dropped. |

Exactly. When I read the letter all I saw was a guy making a fool of himself in public. |

Having an opinion and expressing it is fine. The personal jabs at others (exercising their legitimate right to have a sign on their business or park on their property) is not. As a result, I have lost any sympathy for Mr. Moody's concerns. |

Not to mention taking jabs at the volunteers who serve this town. |

This guy(Moody) just sounds like an arrogant nut job. Hopefully he won't be that much of a bother, but I have a feeling there will be numerous letters and appearances at township meetings in his future. |

All of you seem very smug and childish. |
Probably true, but I think the same could be said of the letter by Mr. Moody. I would add the letter has a degree of mean spiritedness that was seemingly designed to get the kind of responses you have seen here. At times that letter was personal and nasty. I conclude that he gets a certain amount of satisfaction by getting people hot and bothered about his opinions. If that is what he considers enjoyment fine.
I however don't have to play Mr. Moody's sick little game. My advice to anyone who found the letter offensive is to make your comment and then move on. Someone is getting their jollies by having this discussion continue. |

The bottom line is that Mr. Moody's request(s) have been met with a resounding "no." |
