I think his agenda is simple. It pissed him off that they legally reduced the speed on a road he uses for his commute and he's the kind of person who has trouble accepting things when they don't go his way and is used to making a lot of noise about something and expecting a few silly people to take him seriously. In this case he's been disappointed on both counts. |

I think it is a shame that the county is expanding OTR the way they are. It is going to look awful and encourage speeders. I like the idea of a center turning lane, but I wish it were designed more like the other side of OTR, between Main and 130, with trees and grass in the median. |

Why is it that no one drives 35mph on Old Trenton rd. Not even the people who live in Shadow Oaks? |

I drive it almost every day and drive between 35-40. I see plenty of others doing so too. |

Your sense of speed must be way off, I have never seen anyone go less than 45. |

It's called a speedometer and GPS. Whereas you are going off of your predetermined bitterness... |

As someone who has seen a number of officers writing tickets on OTR I make sure to put on my cruise control at 35. In fact, I was once passed and down the road the car was pulled over. So I am sure Plainsboro enjoys seeing the comments encouraging people to go over 35 as it just adds to their court revenue. |

I do the same, only I set mine at 38-39 and have never been stopped. |

I have my Valentine One on (highly recommended for NJ drivers). I just follow the car in front or keep it below 50mph. |

Okay, a few people try to religiously obey the speed limit. That's kind of the problem with setting limits against the prevailing traffic speed. I've been on the road 50 times and never, ever seen anyone go less than 45. The majority of people drive for the conditions, and the conditions are not 35 (10 mph faster than a residential neighborhood on a major semi-rural road). Thus, the majority of people who claim to obey an extremely low limit often do not. I moved to Lawrenceville. Why is it, despite people claiming they drive the speed limit, that I NEVER, EVER see anyone drive 25 on princeton pike? Not even residents?
Seems the people who post here don't really care to read engineering studies and just buy into intuitive notions. |

If you moved to Lawrenceville go find a forum for that Township. Though the obsessive Old Trenton poster has at various times claimed to live in Plainsboro, Cranbury and now Lawrenceville so who knows the truth. In any event, you haven't posted a new idea here on this topic in over a year. Do you have some calendar reminder ping you once every week or so to spam a bunch of topics here with your same old Old Trenton diatribe indefinitely? To what end? Bored? You can’t hope to be accomplishing anything here. |

I think the post from the Lawrenceville resident is fair.
The speed* of most cars on the Old Trenton Rd. section is more than the posted speed limit. This creates an impression of driving over speed limit is OK, which is not a good way of educating drivers to obey posted speed limit.
* When cop is not around. |

Are you a creationist? No? You believe in evolution because it has scientific evidence, right?
So why does me citing scientific reasons why a 35 mph speed limit on this road is unreasonable and why speed limits should be set by engineering standards instead of the whims of local residents make me an 'obsessive maniac'? Angry much? I've never lived in Cranbury or claimed to have. I lived in Plainsboro up until August 2010 and moved to Lawrenceville You're probably confusing me with someone else who has posted more recently. And by the way, I got here by google search...it's not like I've checked this forum every week for a year or something.
Everyone wants the speed limit super low on their road (almost everyone) because of the misconception that it improves safety. It seems that you are so stuck on your irrational belief that you would rather insult me for pointing out scientific facts than change it. In that event, there's no point arguing with you (not that I was trying to). |

* When cop is not around. | Right, exactly. While most people just drive what's comfortable without looking at their speedometer or giving much thought to it (to an extent even when a cop is around, which is why you get people still going 65 on urban interstates when the speed limit is 55 even when a cop is there)
As it stands now, Old Trenton Road has the same speed limit as Edgemere Avenue in Plainsboro....which is a cramped, bumpy, and very residential thruway. I seldom see people going much over the speed limit of 35 there because the conditions don't warrant 50 or 55. But what if someone sees the ridiculous 35 mph speed limit on Old Trenton Rd. (or South Mill Rd.) and thinks its okay to drive 45 or 50 in a 35 where the appropriate speed is actually35.
But people refuse to think about the issue this way because they buy into the simplistic 'slower is safer, so reduce the speed limit as much as possible' notion.
For the record, I don't support the speed limit on South Mill Rd., Route 133 (50), etc either....those are both also arbitrary limits.[/i] |
